Sprint Visual Voicemail not working

Just got my E3D, and when i get a voicemail i get a text telling me to call a 408 number or something. Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Never seen it before.

do you have google voice, sounds like one of there errors? this may help?
text saying "call 408-970-0000 to listen" when a voicemail is left for me - Google Voice Help

I finally figured it out. It was caused by Handcent SMS. There is a setting that allows you to make Handcent the default messaging app, if you choose this option it will interfere with the Visual Voicemail app bc, the app uses a text service to pull voicemails. I found this out just messing around in the app after i spent 2hours on phone with Sprint cust. service. I am planning an email to Handcent on the issue.

I was pulling my hair out and wasting time with Sprint Tech Support.

I wonder if you blacklist the Sprint number if it would fix that. I remember having to do that with CM6 on my Hero. I'll test it and post results.

I tried that and it did not work. The only way I have found for this to work is to disable the Handcent program as the default messaging program and then restart the phone to get a fresh boot.

Yes blacklist will not work bc it is still controlling the text message function.

This is awesome.. I too was receiving these text messages instead of getting my visual voicemail, but it was right after I did the gingerbread update, so I thought it was from that. I did a data wipe / hard reset on my phone twice in the past two weeks to try fixing this. A Sprint tech did this two weeks ago, saying he never saw this problem before, and I just did it again this morning. I just disabled Handcent as the default messaging application, and now it works again. Wow, it's almost always something so obvious that it don't make sense... Thank you for posting this!!
