Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?
Dear Karl,
I'll be glad to let you know that the grapevine is wrong in this case. The EVO 3D only shipped locked because it was completed before the announcement was made; it was too late to go back and change that before the release of the device. However, we've stated that we are working on an update of some sort that will unlock the bootloader of the device; we simply have to jump through the bureaucratic hoops that there always are before it can be available. This is indeed something that we're working on, true to our word. We don't have a date set yet for when it will be available, but as this is a high priority situation when there is news on the subject it will be posted to our social media outlets, like our Facebook and our Twitter just as the previous announcement was. I hope that it is soon. Re: Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?
Interesting response. The reply I got from HTC was they didn't know if there was going to be an unlocked firmware update from HTC.
