Who will unlock first: HTC or Developers?

Ok folks, who do you think will unlock this device first, HTC or the development community?

Im saying HTC. They are taking alot of flack on there Facebook page. Eitherway, I hope its done soon!

The CEO of HTC stated on their Facebook page that they would no longer lock the bootloaders of their new devices. They also stated that the device was already shipped and they would have to unlock it at a later time.

Read up on Facebook for more info... But right now everyone is flaming them for not unlocking it as their CEO said would happen.

Apparently there was a contract in place for the EVO 3d to have a locked bootloader long before the CEO came out and said they would unlock future phones. So its looking like no matter what HTC is saying, they do not plan on unlocking the 3D. So its looking like the only way to truly voice your concerns is to return your devices now. There will be no unlocking of the 3D by HTC.

Dear Karl,

I'll be glad to let you know that the grapevine is wrong in this case. The EVO 3D only shipped locked because it was completed before the announcement was made; it was too late to go back and change that before the release of the device. However, we've stated that we are working on an update of some sort that will unlock the bootloader of the device; we simply have to jump through the bureaucratic hoops that there always are before it can be available. This is indeed something that we're working on, true to our word. We don't have a date set yet for when it will be available, but as this is a high priority situation when there is news on the subject it will be posted to our social media outlets, like our Facebook and our Twitter just as the previous announcement was. I hope that it is soon.

Now that I have said that, I just repaired my EVO and have the new GB update with the new HBOOT 2.16 since all exploits are fixed looks like I will be working with you guys to find the exploit in 2.3.3. I have been following this thread so I won't be asking dumb questions, just saying im in.
