Re: Let HTC hear your thoughts on the 3D

Does anyone else have issues with the music player? My music player skips like a scratched cd from song to song. It also randomly comes on.

The font size is smaller than than the evo 4g some applications are not full screen due to this.

Response e-mail from HTC.

Quote:
Dear Dread,

I understand how important it is for you to receive correct information about your device. We do not know why, but it has been confirmed that the Flashlight application, Battery Widget, and Animation for the screen shut off was removed intentionally.

You can search the Market for other Battery Widgets that will suit your needs. You can search for applications such as Bat Stat Widget or Battery Widget. You can search for other flashlight applications as well. Please note that HTC does not support the use of, or offer technical assistance with regard to these third party solutions. If you have any problems with the application, you will need to contact the developer of the application for further assistance.

As for the speaker, if you are unsatisfied with the volume of the speaker, you can try looking for an audio booster application on the Market as this may help the situation.

As for the signal, do you have a case on the device that could be blocking the signal? You will need to make sure you are holding the device correctly as well. Hold the device with your thumb on the bottom right side of the device and your middle finger on the bottom left side. Then use your index finger to stabilize the device by placing your index finger on the back of the device close to the center. This will help alleviate the signal being blocked simply by the way you are holding the device.

To send a reply to this message or let me know I have successfully answered your question log in to our ContactUs site using your email address and your ticket number 11USCW27ENA001417.

Sincerely,

Kathleen

Re: Let HTC hear your thoughts on the 3D

I don't think HTC will add the flashlight or battery widget... they're probably more concerned about software and maybe hardware bugs to iron out. Also the CRT off animation is for the Google Nexus S... Other Gingerbread phones with custom UIs don't have it, so I don't think HTC will be adding it.

My only real complaint, as others have mentioned, is the speaker. It's not good - very low and cracks a lot when you have it turned up to max. Seems to me they sacrificed sound by trying to conceal the location of the speaker - from afar, you can't even see it. Kind of disappointing for anyone who used their speaker a lot on the evo 4g.

I installed Tiny Flashlight + LED from the market, works great and has a battery % indicator. My speaker sounds good at full volume but you better be in a quite place to use it.

Re: Let HTC hear your thoughts on the 3D

Here are my issues with this phone. (Take into account I am coming from a WM 6.5 TP2 phone) So having said that here I go:

Phone Calls: Sounds choppy. Even when the phone is ringing it sounds choppy. Some people say I am breaking up.

Text messages: There is a problem that if you add a signature to show up by default that the program will add it everytime you open your thread, but if you exit it will save to Draft. So everytime I would open a previous conversation just to see what was said and then I exit it saves to draft. MY TP2 never did that my signature was embedded not added once I opened the app.

People VIP Group: I added names to this pre-existing group and added the Default Action for this Widget. Everytime I leave the people app or make a call using that widget once I go back to the widget the default action disappears. What I mean is I have my parents home phone number and a pic of them. I set the default to call them, if I leave the widget or call them and then go back to widget the icon for the default action disappears and I click on their pic it will say set Default Action for this Widget.

Birth Dates: I am not sure what is the culprit of this issue. But every person's birth date that I have saved in my phone is one day off i.e. John Smith's BD is 7/18/1979 the phone has it as 7/17/1979. So I have to change it back to the correct date. This goes for the Facebook birthdates and the phone birthdates. But my old phone has the right date and so does Facebook. So why it appears one day off on this phone I will never know.

Voice Dialing: I just noticed this today, although the voice dialer works there is no way to launch it outside of moving the app to a page on your home screen then pressing it. I was able to launch Voice Command on my TP2 whether I was using a BT headset or not. What confuses me when you are in the dialer pad I see a microphone and say what I want but it doesn't dial nor do anything but show you the name. What is the purpose of that microphone on the dialer pad screen?

3D pictures: You cannot send another person that does not have a 3D phone a 3D picture. So why would I want to take a picture in 3D and have to convert it back to 2D in order to share it? What is the purpose then? I don't know anyone with this phone besides me.

External Speaker Volume: Stinks like nobodies business. Now this is a HTC problem as a whole because my last two previous phones were also HTC and when compared to my friend's Blackberry (not sure of the model but it doesn't matter) there is no comparison. Night and Day when it comes to loudness. I am slightly hearing impaired and when this phone is not right in front of me a loud ringer is key for me.

Maybe there is something I missing with this. The screen goes black after two seconds. I have Friend Stream as my screen saver if you will and while I am scrolling through their updates and reading it will go black on me.

Now I have called HTC about some of these issues but they are still outstanding since I was at work at the time and I had to get off, but I was on the phone for at least an 1 hour before doing so and without much success. The other issues I just recently discovered and have not brought to HTC 's attention as of yet. I have to call them back to see if there are any solutions. I want to love this phone. But not right now I can't say I even like it. I was considering going with WP7 but Sprint only has one phone and I wasn't impressed at the way it looked so I didn't bother. However, maybe I should have given it a chance.

Am I the only one experiencing these issues?

Re: Let HTC hear your thoughts on the 3D

Biggest issues:
Dropped calls/poor signal lock - I contacted HTC - they said they got a lot of complaints about it but not enough to consider it an issue.

Sound quality - even on BT people are asking me to speak up or asking me if I'm in a loud area - never had that with my previous HTC phone. Some are saying there is an echo. They sound fine to me but that doesn't matter if they can't understand what I'm saying as well.
