You know, I've been debating if I should cancel my preorder or not ever since the bootloader story broke. At first, I was pretty mad about it, but the more I thought about it, and saw the few apps that require root that I use, the more I realized that even without being able to root, this phone is still going to be a monster. With that said, I'm still on the fence, and if another dual-core device with comparable specs drops on Sprint there is a distinct possibility that I would pick it up instead.

Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
Not to mention... Someone including HTC is sure to find a way to root that beast.
But your statement mirrors my thinking about rooting. I like sense and other than tethering... I can't think of too many other reasons to root. It's not like winmo where it takes years to get upgrades. We should have honeycomb on the EVO soon and that's cool with me. p. |

Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
I was seriously debating if I should upgrade to the evo 3d .. after recently being downgraded to silver status(thanks sprint) I'm not due for an upgrade til the- htc evo 4g 3d 1080p led- hits the market.. lol.. leaving me paying full retail price for the 3d. seeing how happy I have been with my evo I wasnt too worried about spending that much because I doubt there would be any regrets. But if this proves to stick and HTC wont remove the locks I will be skipping this phone. I agree with most people here that HTC made a great device this time around. Even after rooting my evo I didnt find many things that needed changing or a need for a rooted device. nothing like winmo where a custom rom was needed just for regular everday use. But I do like options. I flash roms and tweak settings here and there just to get a different look and feel for awhile but I always revert back to mostly stock situations eventually. but thats my passion with highend devices that I can take it alot further than it was when I originally purchased it. I get a kick out of reading a post and seeing in RED.. THIS COULD BRICK YOUR PHONE.. just to see if I can tweak and follow directions enough to get it to work. My evo is great.. was only upgrading for the dual-cores anyway so if they wont unlock it its HTC's lost I'll just sit back keep chilling with my EVO O.G

LOL... EVO O.G.
I'm still a gold member... But I just got the EVO in Feb. So I'll wait to see what comes out between now and then and will surely be happy either way. Looking forward to all the new stuff coming out. p. |

Re: Who's buying the EVO 3D????
I pre-ordered from Radio Shack today. I like the option to root.
Now with the HTC announcement... we can expect OMJ to be on this again, yeah? I know he was starting to consider not getting it with the whole bootloader issue... If anyone cared... I tried Best Buy and when I asked, the person I spoke to said he knew of every pre-order available and they couldn't do it, asked for a manager, he said there is no need since he already knew about all of them and it'll be released in the summer so it could be a long time. Radio Shack knew about it and said they expect it soon, though couldn't give a date (or price for that matter) and let me pre-order. They get my business.
