this is the first I've heard of DT A2SD, I'll have to do some research... I haven't had much time lately to be working on ROMs....

I can't say that I know how it all works, but I think I understand for the most part that your ROM needs to have lines in the init.rc to mount the ext3 partition on the SD card and do a few other things. Here are some good links. Thanks for checking it out. From what I can see this is still the best option, but maybe others can chime in?

lol...brain fart on my part....DT= darktremor....I recant, I stopped using apps2sd since GB was released & we can now move *most* apps to sd via GB.....but yeah, I know there's still alot that are not compatible. I just checked my ROM & no, I do not have the A2SD script in my init.d folder.

you do know you can add A2SD post-flash?

My fault, I should have been more specific on the term DT. Ya I couldn't decide if it was that much more better than GB built in support - my thought would be that if I could reload a ROM and it would just automatically see all my apps and data on the SD card without any backup or restore that would be pretty sweet, but I am not even sure the the Symlinks would be dynamically recreated by the script after a reload? With the GB apps2sd support built in it is not really about freeing up space anymore but more about being able to switch rom versions with less effort. I might try adding the scripts myself just to try it out, if I do I will report back. Otherwise I will just continue to use Titanium backup.

another good backup app to try is MyBackupRoot, I include it in my ROM....I usually only backup call log, sms/mms, android home & dictionary, but I just did a backup of all my apps & data to try it out...

You know... Now that I'm reading this I do remember seeing an option in the kitchen for adding something like this.

But i didn't mess with it, especially since my sd card doesn't have that extension.

Hmm...

you have to mod /system/app/systemui.apk (at least that's what my notes state). I was trying to add it a few months ago, but was having trouble. Maybe it was conflicting with other mods....

I prefer to decompile & mod manually (it's funner!) but you may take aedon's advice & use the uot kitchen, to make it easier.
