Re: Internet Tethering? WiFi/Modem?
Thats all good IF VZW releases it that way, or if the device gets rooted because then even if they don't i'm sure someone will.

Re: Internet Tethering? WiFi/Modem?
This is what I don't understand, and what I object to. If I buy a little USB antenna that connects to Verizon (or any other carrier) and I buy their unlimited data plan, I pay the exact same thing as unlimited data on a smart phone. If I use the smart phone as my connection, and tether it to the same lap top I would have used the other data device on, why do they care or why SHOULD they care how I connect? For this reason I don't believe it is right to charge an extra fee because I went out and spent money on a tethering cord. It's also why I sleep like a baby if I can find a way to tether without them knowing about it.

Re: Internet Tethering? WiFi/Modem?
Once you all get root (which I bet will be sooner than later), you can download "Barnacle" and have your wifi hotspot. It works like a champ.

Re: Internet Tethering? WiFi/Modem?
Some more info for you guys re: Easy Tether. I downloaded and tried the free version. It says the free version does not allow https sites, but I was able to log on to my bank website, which is definitely https secured, no problem. I did some other browsing, speed test (got 300 kbps down and up). Nothing to intensive.
I waited three days, and then went onto the myverizon website to check of it registered any tethering or data usage outside of my unlimited data plan, and it showed none. I definitely encourage you all to try it. |

Re: Internet Tethering Information
I'm a noob to Androids and Verizon. I'll be moving from a now dead HTC Diamond on Sprint.
Just to be sure, you guys are talking about free tethering right? I was able to do that with my Diamond without Spring knowing and would like to be able to do the same with the Incredible. |
