phone shows water damage, but never came close to water

My girlfriend was complaining that her screen was doing bizarre things on her Diamond. I looked at what was once the red criss cross sticker, and it was completely red. I also noticed she enjoys showering with her phone. (not literally, but at an arms reach while showering) When I first got my Motorola Q, they strongly advised to rarely even use the phone outside during the summer if the humidity is high.

When it gets wet, the criss-cross red lines bleed into the rest of the sticker.

Mine has no green sticker under the battery, but the battery does have its own red criss-cross sticker.
