Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

I find that 6.1 with SPB Mobile Shell 3 is far superior to 6.5.

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

I run Calc's 6.5 rom with SPB Mobile Shell 3. I really like the finger friendly scrolling menus in 6.5. I haven't noticed a difference in speed, but I know it is a little less stable because it has crashed a few times, but it's pretty rare. BTW SPB Mobile Shell is friggin awesome. Better than TF3D.

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

I think the thing that seals it for me is the finger scrolling. I'm running Mighty5 Beta and it's fairly stable.

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

You may find it funny to note that as one of the first chefs to regularly push through 6.5 builds (from the first available sys), I too was very reluctant to embrace 6.5. I think I even made a few public statements about how much it sucked, and was a waste of time, blah blah blah...

It is true that it takes adjustment, but after adjusting, I would never go back to 6.1, unless I had some app that was totally vital and only worked on 6.1.

Sorry to say but 6.5 IS: better, stronger, faster. We've come a long way baby.

Not perfect, but better. Once OEM's start getting up to specs with 6.5, it will be even better. I just want a real 6.5 dialer -- WTF MS?

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

I am not groovin' on 6.5 !!

What specifically are the percieved advantages?

I, frankly, figure I come off as a jerk, but I feel like I'm missing out on something and I can't figure out what it is!

Every day another new-fangled 6.5 roms come out with an updated SYS/XIP and I try it/them, get ed and re-flash my 6.1 21051 rom.

Best regards,
-boggsie

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

I just think it is the fingre scrolling mainly. I'm not a huge fan of the improved Start Menu but it works.

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

after touring several 6.5 ROMs, I found nothing of great interest except maybe the better PIE/IE... going back to 6.1 now... (I detest the 6.5 Start menu and don't really like the new big menus either).

rather than bigger menus, I think I would prefer a bigger screen (ala Touch HD or even just a TD2... Sprint?)

Re: 6.5 vs 6.1

the start menu on the 6.5 is one of the things i don't like.
i like it on the 6.1 where we can get our fave apps immediately.

But the main thing is speed.
6.5 has gotten better - i agree, but it is still not as fast compared to a good configured 6.1 rom.

perhaps 6.5 will never be great in a diamond due to hardware limitations?
