well, just to clarify the batteries don't have memory per say, but the phone does. there's chip level control of the charge, and software control. the trick is getting both to agree. best way to do this is letting the phone completely die, 0%. then fully charge.

I've been running the stock rom (fully tweaked) on my tp for a few months now, and honestly the battery performance is on par with every cell phone i've ever had. (minus 6700 and 6800, as they were pretty bad.)

sorry I can't give more specifics on use, cuz really I don't pay attention. I have a spare, and typically put it on the charger at night. only time I have trouble with it dying is when i'm talking alot or using data alot, especially in the hot weather we've been having.

So if the phone really has a memory, what do you do when you switch batteries to reset that memory? I too have 2 batteries and was wondering that. I was trying to understand more with the battery monitor app and started a thread about it a little while ago, http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=70648 but I haven't really gotten much feedback. Any thoughts?

Just run it down all the way. Do this once and it should be fine.

Actually I got a new battery and it seems to be lasting a lot longer. I think my old battery was just bad because I wouldn't be able to make it through a day but now I can.

Did you get one from Sprint or where? Mine seems to be having a tough time making it a day as well, so I might try to get a new one (have read sprint gives them to people, but I've been unlucky so far).

8 ) Do you have any practical suggestions not already mentioned? Close your apps, take stuff off of auto, give roms a few days after a flash to calibrate battery

I have 3 batteries and 2 phones. 1 PAM so it commonly runs til dead (thanks no2! boo qualcomm), and my primary rarely dies.
I alwasy get variations between the 3 batteries when I boot, but since i've had a consistent rom setup going a few weeks I did almost have everything totally calibrated and down pat.
I recently tried a new kitchen ;) and now just charging a dead battery (via PAM phone) in my primary phone with new rom and @ boot it reads 90% on PAM i get 80%. for fun I went ahead checked for the battery that was in PAM (15%) and it showed 35% in my primary, pulled and rebooted and it shows 20% now consistently.

I know that might be hard to follow, but I think it shows just how much inconsistency is involved with batteries, and not that it's the batteries fault, just all the bells and whistles put in to manage them have to error tward safety.

so basically after a rom flash drain(+boot) and fully charge(+boot) all batteries, but 1 cycle should do it.
(+boot = means to boot again after death, and boot after the full charge if charged off)
i have not noticed a difference in charging ON or OFF as long as the radio is cool.

The lowest I've ever seen the battery monitor register in it's log file in sleep mode is 13ma, assuming battery monitor not running maybe we get to 10ma, that would give us 135 hours maximum on a normal cdma 1350 mah battery, that's an absolute maximum standy time in sleep mode of about 5 1/2 days. With light usage I can't imagine any normal battery lasting more that 3 days. Are people that claim a week even turning the phone on or is that how long is takes a battery to go dead sitting unattached to the phone? I find my spare battery holds it's charge a real long time when it's sitting unattached in my pocket!

i have the mugen power 3000 mha battery... i wish it was bigger, still not enough power for me. I want a 10,000 mha battery that i can wear around my belt and hook it up to my cellphone via the cable or a solar charger on the back cover and the belt too.... one can never have engough battery power. i like to listen to music, vidoes, stream, what ever and 3,000 just makes the battery ok instead of useless...

just called seidio online and they say their is no demand for the HTC Diamond so that is why they have not gotten a super exteded battery like a 3000mha or bigger.... I told they are being ripped a new one on chat forum sites for this.....

I'm kinda dissapointed that my Diamons is no better than my vogue.
I seem to get through the day (9 hrs) before it's at 10% then it goes on charge
Groove ROM5, e-mail check every 2 hrs, 2 hr of surfing spreead through the day, couple of texts and no more than 5 mins of calls.

Be sure to turn off all auto-sensing features (ex. Backlight)....the only other thing i can think of is to make sure that data is off when you're not checking your email. Also turn off beam and bluetooth when you're not using it

I just started using the ATR3 ROM, for about a week now...
I let my battery die and charged it to full to make sure the hardware and software are synched...
I still only get about the same life I used to get with the Mighty 4 ROM.

Any idea what's up TaylorSPJ?

Ah if what you said is true about the Rom, ahhhhhh yes it helped much more than a little and I thank you. I haven't been browsing this site much lately but I'm all excited again after reading about this Rom, Weeeeeeee.

Mugen Power 3000 mAH lasts about 5 days or 120 hours.
The OEM 1340 mAH battery lasts about 20 hours.
SOMETHING is wrong. I'm wondering if there is a very large batch of bad OEM batteries ?

I too wonder about the original batteries, I've tried asking before but nobody responds. When you use battery monitor, it gives a batteryid as the first field. I would have thought this would be a number to identify your battery and let you track it versus a different one, like a short serial number, since it's only 3 digits long. What I think is strange is that this number changes on my batteries while they're still in the phone. Is this number supposed to be a stable value? Who wrote the battery monitor that is on lots of roms? Temperature is unchanging on the monitor at 30 degrees centigrade, but my batteryid value varies lots! Is it possible my battery is bad because this value changes? What does your Mugen battery read as batteryid? Does it change?

When you say you get that kind of usage on your 3000mah battery, do you really go 5 days without putting it on a charger at all? I put mine on the charger in the car or it's on the charger when syncing (and of course I put mine on the ac charger all night every night). Do you really not charge at all for 5 days! I guess I'm just a chargeaholic! 5 days without a charge, where's the fun in that! lol

i downloaded the ATR V2 rom onto my diamond and i still can't get a day out of it.
what am i doing wrong or do you guys think my battery is bad.

i use the custom diamonds roms and use different ones on a daily basis. I change every day to different roms. I also use kitchens and do different things with those,,,, i switched 4 times today... Now I also have an extended battery from mugen power that is 3000 mha.

the door is different, so you will need to purchase a door off of ebay for the mugen power 3000 mha diamond battery... that door should work...

I don't know if it's a windows mobile thing or what, but any one rom doesn't seem to stand out (for me at least) on superior battery life span, maybe i'm missing something but here's what i do for my loads..
turn off:
auto - GPS, RSS, weather, pocket express, etc updates
mail - (both yahoo, hotmail) 4 hrs check
disable - beam, wifi, wireless, etc, etc
battery - lower screen brightness to almost nothing, disable the auto adjust

still only getting barely through a day
what I do know is that my bldg that I work sucks big time for signal, so the switching is almost constant and I have done the 1x only only switch and it only gets a bit better. Most of the time, I try not to use it at all (few texts (10 is pushing it) is about all i can manage or it dies before I can reach a charger)

that's my take but is the phone just that bad for battery or am i missing something

- For those that are worse, check those settings, might help you some, but there has to be more.

- Oh and on MR6 (used MR 4, Juicy, ATR, fufu, calc's, int, and a few others, all about the same though)

dunno, maybe that's just as good as it gets :)

i want a 10,000 mha battery the size of the current extended battery. I want it to have solar cells on the back with a clear cover so that it will charge via light..... I think it shoudl also recharge in as little as 10 minutes... i know they are working on fast charge in that time frame...

I need to get more out of this battery...If I can't charge somewhere throughout the day i am screwed. Any suggestions/help would be extremely appreciated.

Buffalo I would recommend MightyROM4. It will be a nice change from what you are used to while still keeping most of what you like.

Sounds good to me....at this point I am willing to try just about anything. Will this change the way my phone looks (ie. the home screen ect...) if so is there some screen shots of it? If not does this "ROM" simply control the running processes to maximize efficiency of the battery life?...

Oh, one last thing will it work with an alltel phone?

The problem with mightyrom and the rest of the roms is I can't stand that touchflo interface with the scrolling icons, and no rom consistantly gives over 140 to 150mb of memory. They all start out high but end up low. I must agree with the statement made here by someone (I can't remember) that most of the builds after 21042 were dogfood builds. I just wish they would update some of the apps and tweaks on Buildos. I check daily but it says no updates.

Well yeah it will work fine Buffalo. It is a completely different image if you will of the phone but yes it works fine with Alltel. I used it in the past with no problem and it keeps Manila (the Touchflo interface) you are used to.

Has anyone tested to see if you disable EVDO if your battery lasts longer if you stay on 1X?

I know this is true of GSM with Edge vs 3G, but I never really tried it much with Sprint.

My brother-in-law's Diamond is lucky to last through a day (mostly text messaging).

If you are switching between 1x and EVDO you are going to have it running down the battery faster than leaving it in 1x mode. I run Intx's Mortscript he made in my previous battery life thread regarding texting and it is convenient.
