thanks for the reply mate. i am a little bit worried though about bricking my fone and not being able to resolve it. i work for the tech team of a mobile commications company (wont say which) and know abit about fones and blackberrys but am a bit useless when comes to this!

when you do this whole upgrade thing is there a way to allow u to go back to the orignal firmware if goes wrong???

Yup. You can find the stock ROMs in the unlocking sticky, and a relocker as well, just in case you feel the need to go back to the 'stock' firmaware. (or if you need to return)
