i always had this question as well, lurking around in these threads always suggested that it was the radio. But what i dont understand is, okay, when i had my diamond and i used it for a phone call over 45 mins, it would be verry hot

but if i had the same conversation thru a bluetooth headset, the phone would be SIGNIFICANTLY cooler, which led me to believe that it may have nothing to do with the radio...but i still not sure

just my 2 cents

i see where ur going, but the question is why the phone gets so hot,

the heat issue isnt caused by heat passing from hands to the phone, rather its attributed to the radio, thats what mixxy is trying to point out i think

Re: why does the diamond get so hot?

well i was reading up ona a thread here where it listed the best radios for different cities. I live in newyork and i am on sprint. The thread said that the verizon radio was better in new york so after i flashed to that verizon radio my phone is significantly less hotter when using voice and when using data. The sprint radio would get incredibly warm so it may depend what radio you have and where you are located. try looking up the thread on best radios for different cities(i dont remember where it was)

edit- found the thread.hope it helps. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=56611

Re: why does the diamond get so hot?

i only notice the phone getting really hot if i use it as a phone-as-modem on the computer; i guess cuz its charging and using the radio at the same time

i'm on sprint 1.11 -- but i think i'm switching to telus 1.04 to see if that helps

Yea ive been using telus its a bit better. But still gets hot for streaming music on the charger. Just ordered the 1500 mah battery so i dont have to charge it as much. Wont be much of a difference i think tho.

Re: why does the diamond get so hot?

Yeah it's a combo of everything radio, charging(especially with fast charge dll), and of course the processer, I've tried pretty much every radio and haven't noticed much of a difference at all.

Mine gets hot enough to fry eggs on, I usually take the back off for tethering.

It gets soooo hot using wifirouter (wifi) and downloading newgroups (radio and processer cranking out), plus the heat from ac charging and it's ready to burst into flames, with the back off it will keep charging at least, not the case if left on.
