Re: Is it possible to increase the character limit when texting?

There's actually a reason for the 160 character limit when sending SMS.

Quote:
SMS was designed to deliver short bursts of data such as numerical pages. To avoid overloading the system with more than the standard forward-and-response operation, the inventors of SMS agreed on a 160-character maximum message size.
It's not a convenience issue at all, it's a matter of system overhead. 160 characters fits inside of the check packet that phones/towers use to communicate.

Re: Is it possible to increase the character limit when texting?

it also depends on who is receiving the phone....if their phone can only support 150 they will recieve split messages ewnding at 150 characters....i have tested this with my friends phone....i sent her a 301 charachter txt and instead of recieving two messages she recieved 3 bc her phone only held 150...and the messages being out of order is so annoying btw lol
