5 sec is too long wow,i think your only route that is left is a hard reset and try a custom rom,also another advice try to use a file with a WAV extension as your ring tone as far as i know they are faster to load and start ringing good luck, for unlocking your phone and flashing a custom tom checkout this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36062
