Are you reading what everyone else is reading. On my PC, the post says "7 megapixel panorama tweak".

And regardless of how many 3.2mp pics you take and put together, it doesn't change the resolution. It just makes a panoramic picture that has a 3.2mp resolution.

the money word is panaroma, which is a series of 3.2mp shots put together, and it should always be more than 3.2mp. put it this way, you have a 3.2mp camera and you can take a picture of your face, it would come out as a 3.2mp photo. now the samer camera, zoom in or stand up closer you take 4 shots of all 4 corners of your face. now use software to stitch the 4 photos together to make the entire face. now you have a nice 12.8mp shot of your face. it will be a bit less than 12.8mp due to cropping and over lay.

edit. let me emphasis that our phone camera is 3.2mp and with a panaroma shot, it should be around 6.4mp because you are stiching 2 3.2mp photos together. the original software in the camera reduce the size of the panaroma shot, and this hack will undo it to make the panaroma feature a full feature.

again, the camera is 3.2mp, and with panaroma shot of 2 captures it should be almost 6.4mp because your are stitching 2 3.2mp together. a panaroma shot of 3 captures should be around 9.6mp becuase you stitching 3 3.2mp together.

Incorrect. You cant just add the 3 pictures resolutions together, and get a higher resolution picture . It simply does NOT work that way. At any point in the panoramic picture, the resolution is still 3.2mp if taken with a 3.2 mp camera.

If you take a 6 shot panoramic picture with my 10mp Casio, you do NOT, NOT, NOT get a 60mp resolution picture.

Re: 7 megapixel panorama tweak

I am one to admit when Im wrong, and I was wrong. Very wrong here.

Apparently, just stitching pictures together, YOU DO GET A HIGHER RESOLUTION FINAL PICTURE. It makes sense now after doing a little reading.

So my most sincere apoligies to jrn6264 and sadthai.

I was very WRONG. Here is the article that enlightened me.

Re: 7 megapixel panorama tweak

Juggalo is correct. Take for example Optical Zoom. Most home-level cameras have 3X Optical Zoom ..and then something like 15x digital zoom. Ever notice that once you exceed the 3X Optical zoom and tap into the Digital zoom, the camera kicks into digital mode and pretty much "guesses" the pixel information, thus look like Sheeeet!

Re: 7 megapixel panorama tweak

I'm all argued out but from what I have seen the pics look good so I will keep this hack and be happy and that's what I suggest to anyone interested in it. ps I'm not a novice at cameras in fact I'm kinda an advanced user considering my training in accident investigation.
