Navigation Pad - did I get a dud ?

I just got my Dimo yesterday night and have been laying around with it.

Navigation pad seems a lttle uptight... sorry can't fin another word. My question is how is supposed to behave ?

Is the small cetral section that kinda sinks in used only for OK by pressing in ? and then when I have to do right/left or up/down I move my thumb out of the central button and use the outside (raised) circlular area ?? Or are you all able to press up / down / right / left staying on the central button ?

On may occasions I can't even seem to be able to press the directional area and get the right outcome, e.g., On Today page many a times I can't go to next tabs even when I am pressing quite hard on the outer right, even with nails sometimes. And same in Inbox. On Touch I used to be able to goto next / previous emails rom within an email by pressing that area, but it does not happen at all on Diamond.

Did I get a bad (hard) one or is it like that for you all too ?

Thanks for help

Re: Navigation Pad - did I get a dud ?

Its capacitive I believe, but my beef with is pressing in directions feels like I'm pressing the adjacent buttons, not the d-pad itself. I don't use it much - not really a fan.

Re: Navigation Pad - did I get a dud ?

You do not press on the inner circle nor the ring to use the directional pad. You should be pressing on the area to the outside (even a bit further out than you'd think) for the up/down/left/right navigations.. IE between the home & phone buttons would navigate left...

Sorry didn't understand what you meant by 'capacitive'.

I browse the web a lot and use the pad a lot.... it's o fun at all using it on Diamond... unless (and I really hope.... ) that it is just my unit that has this malfunction

I would have never gone that far from the center. honest.

It is working now... I just need to get used to move that far away...

Re: Navigation Pad - did I get a dud ?

I'm finding it trivial as well. And why does the side volume up/down slider act like the d-pad? Is there a way to make it work the volume up/down? I have yet to figure out how to adjust the volume...

you must be using a custom/kitchen built rom... i had this happen on a few custom roms and found that it was due to some selections i was making... never narrowed down exactly which ones caused it, but no longer have this volume issue...

I've had the issue with omj's rom, and I took the stock last night and dressed it up the way I do and same issues. I can install s2u2 and have volume, but not when in a call....I'm gonna try the stock rom tonight and see if works...Or some other rom...

Really ? I am on OMJ's 1.09 v5 ( SE version) and I don't see the up/down slider behave that way... in fact I would like it to behave that way when I am on IE ( )....

Anyhow... I do 'feel' that my Diamond is a bit more slower than the Touch ( with OMJ / NFSFAN ROMs)
