The date and revision are "stamped" under the battery cover close to but above the reset button.

The heat doesn't bother me too much, it's a good pocket warmer, I'm wondering about the charging issue.
When somebody confirms that it doesn't drain the battery while plugged in and in use I'll flash the stock ROM and get rid of it right away.

Re: New Diamond Swap, Different REV.

Here's a bump.
I got a replacement Diamond tonight. My initial plan was to sell it so I haven't really touched it 'till just now.

Stamped build date is 11/08/08, one of the reasons for wanting to sell it.
Rev is stamped FA00.

However using ##786# the manufacturers date is 11/13/08.
The back of the phone doesn't get as hot as the other, it does get a bit warm running SprintTV.
It does get hot at the USB connector though. I assume the heatsink is simply keeping the heat IN.
I haven't checked charging yet.

Re: New Diamond Swap, Different REV.

so the newer ones are better?? i just got a diamond the other day at best buy and the manufacture date was freaking 8/31... obviously it's not a popular phone at my local best buy or sprint is sending them their stock of old phones. rev is fa00.
i noticed that the phone got really hot and warmed up much faster than the tp doing the same tasks. should i exchange it? and if the newer ones are improved, can someone point me to a thread with some kind of confirmation that there have been changes made?? thanks

I started a data session and let the screen stay lit and dont even get warm at all. Of course mine dont either after using the verizon radio rom. I used an envolope scale and weighd both phones the revised phone was heavier but .003 grams. Heatsheild installed? perhaps. I did notice that under the batt cover looked the same on both diamonds so perhaps something added inside? would be nice to take one apart and see. Im going to try get mine exchanged and ill open it.
the only kinda scale that i know that's that accurate dude is the scale i weigh my grees on lol

envalope scale my arse :P

Re: New Diamond Swap, Different REV.

I didn't noticing other TWO build dates on my phone.
All are rev FA00:
top right: 17-09-08
bottom left: 13-10-08
bottom left: 11-08-08

But as I mentioned the build date programmed into the phone is newer.

Must be built in sections the assembled(?).
