Thanks for all the information. Here's my take on my situation:
Both have Accelerometers (big plus, very fun ), both have similar tech specs (528Mhz/RAM), similar design (TP larger). TD has 4GB "Internal Storage" with NO Expansion; problem here is that I replaced my 'new' HTC Touch and sometime in the past few months, bought 4GB worth of MicroSD (2x2GB - kinda regret it considering I should have just bought 4GB stick so may give each one to mom/gf). I don't actually care for Expansion slots because in time I install a lot of programs, but MicroSD doesn't support it as well as Internal Storage does (plus less headaches). With MicroSD if the card fails, you have to talk to the manufacturer of it, but if the Internal storage fails, Sprint would get a phone call from me . I already dropped the Diamond once and now have some small aesthetic damage (tiny cracks) so kind of disappointed it is not as durable as my HTC Touch was, dropped that thing at least 20 times in a month =D>

Overall after reading this and believing the TP may be a bit bugged/low quality (re: build quality), I can stick with my TD. After all, TD = TouchDown! (something the Seahawks didn't seem to understand yesterday vs. Dallas)

In my opinion, smartphones without a qwert keyboard will always give you far less issues than those phones with a keyboard. The opening and closing of the keyboard takes its toll on the phone (granted it takes a while, but after having the Apache and Mogul the qwerty keyboard is just something else that can get broken that doesn't NEED to be there). There is that, and the fact that I do not like having to use TWO HANDS to use my cell phone, that is the biggest drawback, I would rather have a nice on screen keyboard like SPB's than have my phone double in size, and have me need to use both hands to use it just to type a text message.

well its not even the slider, right out of the box there are manufacturing defects in the Pro- flaking off chrome finish, raised dpads, poor earpieces. thats not even including the poor sliding mechanism. there are just too many defects in the build quality

I have to agree, the Pro just feels almost cheap in the hand compared to the diamond. Unless you find yourself typing really slow on an onscreen keyboard, and absolutely need a qwerty or more than 4gb of storage, I would stick with the Diamond.

i had the diamond for about a month and a half, and then switched to the pro...why?

well, i had 3 diamonds. there was something wrong with all of them. the third actually worked pretty well, but i really wanted tv out. i feel as though thats a feature worth having. some people won't use it, but i use it all the time. the obvious drawbacks of the diamond were mostly why i switched... card slot, keyboard, rumored wimax compatibiltiy, more onboard memory for applications (which is a BIG plus, because you can switch sd cards and still have all your apps installed on the phone ((which makes the phone faster overall)). the size really isn't that much of a difference. my gf's tilt is still thicker than my pro, and larger overall.. most phones in this category are larger.

both are good phones, but i feel as though the diamond just wasn't for me. the features it lacked, i ended up really needing.

as for hardware vs onscreen keyboard... i do a lot of excel editing on my phone, and i can't imagine doing it with a touch screen because you wouldn't be able to see what you are doing. i use the onscreen keyboard for texting, and leave the real text entry (excel, emails, etc) to the real keyboard.

if you aren't going to use most of the features these phones have, i'd recommend getting the diamond then. but if you really plan on using it for what its meant for, the pro is really the only option (i think).

for me, this phone is replacing a pda and a cellphone. for others though, they may have never used a pda, or never had reason to. i use it for work, so i need something as close to a computer a humanly possible.

i have to really disagree with people who say the pro feels cheap. it really doesn't. the battery cover doesn't sit right, but besides that, its a fairly solid device considering the movements that it makes. its about as solid as anyone could expect a device that is really two pieces held together by a tiny hindge as it can be.

And i disagree I think the Mogul, big POS it was, had a MUCH better slider mechanism than the Pro. The Pro has had all kinds of major quality control issues already with tons of threads in the Pro section- raised Dpads, crackly unusable earpiece, flaking off chrome on the sides, and the slider being flimsy. theres no excuse for defective units from the manufacturer with all of these issues widespread.

Haven't seen very many manufacturing defect threads at all ever in the diamond section so the people have spoken which is built better. Its odd considering theyre so similar and both HTC's and such a huge difference in build quality.

i read it in 2 places... once on the forum here, and another time on a random site through google, explaining wimax compatibility was the reason for the release delay.

i'm not saying that its fact... i specifically wrote rumored compatibility.

regardless of that, there are defects with the diamond, i experienced them. i went through 3 of them. the first one's speaker barely worked, the second was hard resetting itself from my pocket, and the third had problems with the d-pad and freezing with the stock rom. thats 3 phones bought at 2 different stores. my first pro i kinda broke, and then second has been fine also. so, from my perspective, i've had 3 faulty diamonds, and no faulty pro's. i'm not saying that the pro doesn't have quality control issues, but the diamond has its issues as well... don't act like its a gem brought down from the heavens by god himself.

OP, you should start one of these threads in the pro forum, the responses you will get here will always be biased towards the Diamond (as the responses will be for the Pro in the Pro forum)

ou2mame brings up a good point about editing spreadsheets in excel, stuff like that isnt the easiest thing to do with the onscreen keyboard taking up half the screen. Im sure there are lots of other little things like that pro owners will share that you may not have even though of.
