Sprint should still exchange the device for you if it is within 1 year of ownership, which would make it eligible for the one year replacement or repair warranty offered by HTC.
But Sprint usually honors the manufacturers warranty.
They did for me and others.
The last I heard, Sprint's policy has not changed.
Just go to the store, a Sprint store with a repair/service facility, and explain the situation to a Rep. Obviously, be courteous.
If a rep gives you a hassle, ask to speak with a manager.
I don't think you should have any problem, especially when you are friendly with a Sprint employee.
Which reminds me, just go to your friend and have him do the exchange or repair.
In the case of a screen failure, they will exchange the device for you
Remember, all of the above is dependant on whether or not your issue is a manufacturing defect.
