the red and white indicators, one's on the battery, and one is under the battery cover by the usb connector.

Yep, once the little white and red peices of paper get moisture they change color, indicating that the phone has been subjected to water damage, so whenever you turn the phone in for whatever reason it might not be working they'll notice them and say that was the cause.
What I do when I get a new device with them is find the sensors and cover them with electric tape, sometimes you'll have to open it up though. This one is clean. This one has been activated. The HTC ones are different though. |

Hmm i learn something new every day...First that water is now spelled warter and that there are indicators to alert the so call "techs" you dropped your phone in the water. Thanks for the pics! Gives everyone a good idea of the water marks.

No problem, that was just a quick google image search, the stickers look a bit different but you can tell where and what they are as long as you know water tamper spots exist.
Like I said, use some electrical tape :] |

If they havn't changed colors then you shouldn't have to pay the $50 deductible.
