No. My problem was caused by ME installing WOW SRS.
DUMB(!) mistake as it was installed by UC so the problem appeared on first boot with UC ROMS.

IIRC your volume problem is different in that the up button also "presses" the center D-Pad button(?).
Not the same as I was experiencing.
