Nope, disabled. Have you installed HTC GpsTool? This will let you see if you device is seeing any satellites or not which helps in troubleshooting.

I just installed the advanced config app. I get an error saying I need a newer version of the MS Net Compact Framework.

I'll try to find the HTC GPS Tool but I have to figure out how to get a newer version of Net first.

.NET Compact Framework 3.5 includes all earlier version and can be donwloaded from here -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...playlang=en&tm. As for the HTC GPS Tool, just google for "nadavi htc gps tool"

Re: Fixed: Diamond from Alltel and NO GPS...ARgghh!

FYI, I have a stock Alltel Diamond and my GPS works fine with GoogleMaps and LiveSearch, no setup required. I think the secret may have been that I activated the Alltel Navigation first (30 day free trial) which configured everything properly. I'll be dropping the Alltel Nav when the trial is up, though-- it gives lousy directions compared to my standalone Garmin units!

Re: Fixed: Diamond from Alltel and NO GPS...ARgghh!

How come my GPS doesn't work? Even after standing outside for 10 mins and waving my phone around in the air as if writing to God and getting strange looks from my neighbors I still couldn't get even one satellite with google maps. I have the stock touch diamond from alltel and installed the advanced config tool and made sure assisted GPS was disabeled. Do I need some other fix or something?

Re: Fixed: Diamond from Alltel and NO GPS...ARgghh!

I found the solution on another forum. It's a simple fix:
Start-> Settings -> Phone ->Services->Location Settings-> Turn it on
Yea, it was that simple.

Re: Fixed: Diamond from Alltel and NO GPS...ARgghh!

first post here, and did want to start up a new thread...

heres my issue

I got my diamond about a month ago, its an alltel cdma diamond with original ROM, no registry tweaks, pretty much stock.

the GPS is being finicky. ive tried atleast 10-15 different GPS applications (all freeware or trials) and they are alway hit or miss. sometimes i get a 6-12 sat lock in seconds, even indoors... but sometimes i cant lock on outside even after 15min or more (even if i had a lock on less then 8hrs earlier). Ive been trying to find a pattern to why it sometimes works (certain settings, maybe after a resets, quick gps, etc)
side note, i used the G-Watch app while in poland where i have no phone coverage. it worked perfectly everytime i turned it on with almost instant lockon. but back in florida every program i try sometimes works and sometimes doesnt, even if i turned the phone to airplane mode.
also some of the programs show that i have located up to 8 or so sats, but but cant actually get a lock on them

question 1- is this considered normal for the alltel diamond
question 2- does the software that costs money (ie tomtom) work any better/more consistently
question 3 - could there be something wrong with my phone
question 4 - any ideas how to make it more stable

thanx for the help

edit: btw, i have read some of the sticky's about editing the registry, i just wanted to make sure if thats what i need to do before i actually try it, or is there another reason my gps wont lock on.
