Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware
Upload speed and latency.
By the way those download speed are awesome.. When I had my mogul the best I could get was like 600 Kbps. and Raydog. I've been with sprint since 2000-2001. And every time I have an issue I just call tech support instead of going to the store.. Because bad experience in the past(yeah Escorial store). So I dont know manager. I know people that work at sprint but they most of the time, know nothing. |

Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware
Here's a reply I got today after emailing Sprint about the problem and flooding them with calls and chat sessions:
Dear etienne97, Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding your Touch Pro. Thank you for reporting the problems you are having with your Touch Pro not being able to connect to the internet using the Rev A network. Unfortunately there is no estimated resolution at this time for this problem. There seems to be a lot of feedback stating that this is not working however we do not have any updates on a fix for this problem. While I am sure that there will be a software hot fix to address this problem they have not released a date or any information as of right now on what they plan to do to address this issue. I have issued a trouble record to our technicians about this problem so that they can research what is causing it. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to respond to this email. Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business. Sincerely, Ben W. Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware
I think we should report this to engadget and other such websites to see if they decide to post something about it on their websites. That might make the issue more known and someone actually may do something about it.

Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware
As I understand it they are working on it actively. I know techs that work directly with the tower systems in PR, one of my contacts is the technical director for PR and the other is one of his subordinates who is a field team manager. They both told me that they are more than aware of the issue and are actively working on solving it since the Diamond has been pulled from stores and the Pro has been delayed form local stores pending resolution.
I asked the precise cause and solution to the problem and they aren't allowed to give out any direct information as to why. Apparently Sprint doesn't use their own towers in PR, instead they rent spectrum space on another carrier's towers and they run off of that. I'm not 100% sure about that but one lower level tech let that one slip by. My higher level contacts denied that one though. |

Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware
UPDATE: Just called the Technical Director and he told me that on Friday they had a meeting about this with the tower engineers and identified that they need to apply some firmware patches to the towers for Rev.A to work correctly on Diamonds and Touch Pros. This update will also give a small improvement in available bandwidth and connection reliability on current functioning Rev.A devices.
He couldn't specify on when the updates will be finished but they already started to update their towers today. So thats some definitive good news. Now its just a matter of holding tight and once they finish the updates, reenabling Rev.A on our phones. EDIT: Oh and they definitely DO NOT rent tower space from any carrier, the towers they use are strictly Sprint's towers and they use them for cellular and wide area wireless service that they use to interconnect networking junction points instead of using or renting fiber optics. Re: Puerto Rico Sprint User's Be Aware
Yeah I was going to say that... they own towers here in Puerto Rico.
They rent towers from centennial for roaming. Thanks for that info, I will re-enable revA on friday night just in case. That's great info. |
