Re: Do you use WiFi on Diamond?

LOL, i never even turned on the WiFi on this phone...don't even know if it works. EVDO is good enough for me. Maybe if i'm in an area with crappy reception i would use it.

Re: Do you use WiFi on Diamond?

Pretty much the only thing I use WIFI for is WMWifiRouter. Everywhere I go has plenty of EVDO.

Re: Do you use WiFi on Diamond?

I turn it on when I'm doing some web surfing at home. Seems to use less power and it's faster.

I also turn it on at my cousin's house. He has very poor service, so I just turn the phone off and Wi-Fi on.

I was wondering about this myself. I will be travelling to Europe this summer and obviously, with my Sprint CDMA phone, there won't be any swapping in a SIM card that I can use there. But, I'm pretty sure I will have wi-fi available most of the places I'm staying and elsewhere. And I've downloaded Skype. Is there any reason that being somewhere like Europe with no CDMA service would effect my ability to use the wi-fi and skype on the Diamond?

P.S. I'm sympathetic to the 50 lb laptop feeling. Mine is like 7 pounds and it might as well be 50 as much as its a pain to haul.

Re: Do you use WiFi on Diamond?

Basically while in holland al one would ned when traveling is Skype and WiFi...just imagine if you have the Touch pro from verizon...haha you would be crippled. Like I said with wiFi in Holland and England you have access to many free hotspots ..check your mail, take pics and email those pics to th states, check your bank statements on line, pay my sprint bill on line, email my spread sheets and word docs, watch tv on my slingbox and for late night entertainment I watch diamond TV with some nicely added channels..(hehe)
Just think back to 1995 if you would have been capable to do this all with a 50 lb laptop.

Re: Do you use WiFi on Diamond?

I use WiFi to access network shares, as well as to print to a shared printer on my network. WMWiFirouter works great for internet sharing as well.

Anytime I am in a place I know has WiFI, i switch it on so i can have faster netowkr speeds, and reduced battery consumption (compared to having EVDO data on)

It is also great to have WiFiFoFuM on the phone to find hotspots wherever you are.

The dealbreaker for having WiFI is the faster browsing speeds. Just working on getting a TSN video feed to watch the world juniors when i am busy "working".
