Good call. I mentioned Resco Explorer above. It turns out that it uses the Pictures and Videos program to open the photo. Not part of Resco at all.

Re: Camera Storing some Photos Sideways

Thanks for all the alternatives. Someone on another board also suggested just using the File Explorer to open the photo and edit/rotate from there. That works, but, Pictures & Videos app is easier.

Re: Camera Storing some Photos Sideways

i've searched a lot of forums (sprintusers, xda, etc) including this one, and this is one of the VERY few threads i've found concerning this issue. anyone have any updated info?

i still cant figure out EXACTLY why it saves pix sometimes in portrait, sometimes in 'scape, BUT when i tested it by taking about 100 pix in a row, it seemed to be accelerometer influenced somehow. i say "somehow" because i couldnt make it perform how i wanted every time. i DID notice that the ONLY time it switched the save orientation from one pic to the next was when i moved the device in a way to influence the accelerometer. (i.e. if i kept the device perfectly still and shot about 10 pix, they'd all be saved same way...but if i moved camera in between shots, i noticed the orientation would be switched on some pix. and again, even when i moved the device in between every shot, orientation would only change for some of them)

anyone???

Re: Camera Storing some Photos Sideways

I just noticed the same thing. I'm using the newest stock rom plus the ported diamond 2 Gsensor and HTc album. When I took a pix in contact mode, no matter how I hold the camera (portrait or landscape), the image is stored in the landscape mode.

Re: Camera Storing some Photos Sideways

It's hit and miss for me as well. Some photos will be fine. But others will be rotated. I've seen it happen on Juicy's old ROMs and also the current one I made with Calcu's kitchen.

Do a search for the registry hack that fixes the landscape bug.

Re: Camera Storing some Photos Sideways

registry hacks here

-------------------------------------------------

11-Camera Flip Pictures Fix

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image

Change "EnableEncodePortrait" to 0

When you take a picture it is saved in the wrong configuration and you then have to rotate
it with a picture editor so its not sideways and save it again. This is the fix for it.

Thanks, I had like eight pictures that were stored with the wrong orientation, this solution worked well for me.
