i went into the store and they scan it. either way it will not matter, they will take both. just make sure you tell them either the ESN is ........... or the MEID is A000000......

they will be able to handle it. or take it to a corporate store and ask for an esn change, and give them the phone. if they question if they can do it or not. just say that you got the phone cheap, and somone told you how to make it work.
