In all honesty, the majority of people that are really clamoring for Android are those that are just tired of the same old crap. When I say crap I mean the same basic OS that is Windows Mobile. Regardless of what people say, people do like change or at least what is perseaved as the next best thing.

Android looks to be faster and smoother then WM but whether that would be true if fully loaded like WM is remains to be seen.

but wait wait, The people that think that android is the shiznit is the PC people that was suckered by the hype. Linux people will automatically like the Android. No doubt.

I've looked at an android phone before and it's about the most cluttered thing you'll ever see! It's even worse than WinMo. It takes a press to do this, a long press to do that, it's just confusing! They have a good idea with the application development/deployment. I read somewhere that WinMo was prepping an app development/deployment solution, which would be sweet! They just need to get people excited to develop for WinMo, and give them the tools to do so. There's not nearly enough good programs out there. I have an iPod Touch and you go out to the App Store and it's loaded up with cool things.

Where's our cool apps? I know that most WinMo people think of their phones more as tools than toys, but why can't they be both!?

our apps are scattered on various websites in .cab forms. In short you have to have some navigation and smarts to make the most of your WinMo phone

This unfortunately is the largest downfall of the Windows Mobile device family. They all have a certain shiny factor to those who have no business operating a device so complex. These are the same people who cannot manage a Mac running Classic, but want the 'top of the line, best of the best' gadgets.

For these people, there was created... dun dun dun.. The BLACKBERRY. Sure, you can modify them... a bit. They can be tweaked. Can you intentionally break the OS? Nope. Can you even flash an unsigned rom to them? Nope. Any SPLs? Nope. Software? Hah! Try doing a google search for "Blackberry torrent" see what you come up with.

I hadn't seen this wiki entry posted here. Just thought I'd add it (if only so I can track it down later). Still no luck with Android 1.0 though the G1 was recently unlocked/"jail broken" so I hope that leads to additional breakthroughs soon.
