Re: GPS on Diamond with iGo 8, how to prime it?
The Sprint Stock ROM runs QuickGPS as Service that constantly keeps the GPS Primed.
And application that KNOWS how to comminucate with the GPS Should work fine. Some do not. Like iGuidance. For picky apps that strictly use COM ports you may have to use something like GPSgate. Which works very good for iGuidance. And it's pretty cheap.

Re: GPS on Diamond with iGo 8, how to prime it?
I was surprised to find out that my Diamond didn't require a prime for iGo 8. Now I see why.
If, for some reason, you do need to prime it, I suggest AstroGPSLauncher. It's what I used on my Touch (Classic) with great success. |

Re: GPS on Diamond with iGo 8, how to prime it?
It does not mean the GPS is on.
It's just has data preloaded into the phone so when the GPS is used it's ready to go. It does tend to keep the network up doing this though that does add to battery drain but not that much. I tried stopping the service (with MemMaid) to save battery (i.e. by allowing network to shut off) and then could not get the GPS to work (or at least I didn't wait long enough for it to find sats on it's own which it would eventually do). |

Re: GPS on Diamond with iGo 8, how to prime it?
Funny. As soon as I mentioned I don't need a primer, my Diamond couldn't find the GPS tonight. Granted I've only had the Diamond for 2 days, but that's a little frustrating...
