Sprint Diamond battery problem

My new Sprint Diamond battery lasted only 4 hours today. I'm using Juicy 2.5 ROM, so it's supposed to be battery efficient. I have bad reception at work but my Touch lasted at least 12 hours.

It's normal or my battery is busted?

Should I take it back to Sprint for an exchange or just suck it up?

Thanks

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem

I have a Sprint Diamond with Juicy 2.5, and it normally lasts 12+ between charges.

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem

So should I return it? I think I got until Friday to return it.

I put it in Airplane mode and the battery meter barely moves, so that means that the problem could be the radio. As long as I know, the CDMA radio can't be upgraded.

BTW, I did search and did all the hacks and mods posted all around but my battery is getting worst.

Thanks to you all

Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem

wow there, dont return it, mines lasts a good 12-14 hours, it use to only last 4 hours like yours, cycle the battery a few times, by letting it die fully by itself atleast 2-3 times, if its not better after that then ok, exchange.

I find that the Diamond is VERY bad at dealing with poor coverage, much worse than the Touch. At my home where coverage is very bad, 4-6 hours is about on par.

I second that, most of the battery issues are caused by being in poor coverage.

Angry Re: Sprint Diamond battery problem

I am guessing Sprint and telus have same issue.

I would agree that a proper method needs to be used to see if battery drain is really a problem.

I have disabled my GPS, use about 3 hours of data and am at 2 bars of battery left.

I have called HTC support and Telus support, they claim they are not receiving any calls. telus offered $10/month off my plan for the inconvenience.

Then, I found this closed thread on this site:

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=41096

According to someone at HTC, the Diamond has 2 flaws, one is the refresh for the radio on the Diamond is set to 100ms vs normal 300ms, second flaw is a plate that was installed on Diamond's which will be installed on Diamond Pro.

This leads me to believe there really is a problem with the Diamond. The folks with GSM version have a smaller battery and have less issues.

If there is a battery tweek that will change the radio refresh to 300ms, please post or set link in this thread.

As for the plate that was not installed, I am guessing carrier want this kept quiet so they do not have to create a plan with HTC to retrofit thousands of CDMA diamonds shipped.

More users need to complain and force carriers/HTC to agree these are issues.
