How hot is too hot?

I'm fine with the phone getting a little warm while surfing the net but the heat generated when watching YouTube videos or my Slingbox is out of control. After about 15 minutes with either one, the entire back of my phone is hot (yes, the entire thing) with the lower part being almost too hot to hold. Is this normal or am I asking for trouble by letting the phone get so hot?

You might want to carry a bucket of ice with you when you want to watch YouTube videos...

Re: How hot is too hot?

I can appreciate the humor but does anybody have a real answer? Can a device operate so hot without causing problems down the road?

Re: How hot is too hot?

Wasn't overheating the general theory behind the Moguls mysterious white spots? ...the world may never know.

LOL ... Yeah...Call Sprint and ask... LOL I'm sorry, LOL, I can't stop laughing.
I made the same mistake. LOL. I mentioned the white spots as well as the overheating to them and they said they don't have it in anywhere in their system that this is a known issue. Now that was with the Mogul which has been out over a year, so I readily had 4 websites up with forums discussing this issue. I told the Sprint rep on the phone: well if you don't have it in your system yet then maybe someone might like to review these forums and determine if it should be added. There were an average of 200 posts in each of the 4 forums that were discussing the white spots and overheating. Anyway, they said they would send me another one, but according to others it is very likely that the same problems will still be there. It just takes a few weeks before the heat causes the spots.
That brings me to this post, which I hope the white spots don't become present in this newer model phone.

Re: How hot is too hot?

I just added insurance to my plan so I'm not even going to worry about it. If the thing melts, I'll return it for something else.

Re: How hot is too hot?

So I too was way concerned about getting a sunburn in my inner thigh way too close to ??, so I called Sprint and of course they were "unaware of the issue". They told me that this was definitely NOT ok and sent me a replacement Diamond free of charge overnight (of course I am within my 30 days)...

Still in its box as I am pretty sure nothing will change, but according to account services this does extend my 30 days a little bit longer.... he he he
