reflashing, jst to secure it installed properly, wont brick or dmg the phone right?

Is that the proper way to hard reset??? I thought taking off the back cover and just using the reset switch on the back is called the hard reset?? Can someone please clarify this. Thanks

the button on the back is a soft reset button.
