Re: Odd problem when answering calls

I have done some testing on this today. I made 15+ calls to the phone, both with the Data Connection On and the Data Connection Off.

Here is what I found. If the Data Connection is Off, no problem answering a call either with the Hard Key or the Answer button. But if the Data Connection is On, whether active or not (white or greyed arrows), the call cannot be answered on the first press - many times, not at all. Update: It is not the number of presses. Rather there is a delay from the first press until the call is answered. Several presses only gives the illusion that the extra presses are what causes the call to be answered.

That is the problem. Please try it yourself to confirm. The question is, who has the fix? Diamond Tweak is installed, but I do not think that it is the software itself, though it could be one of the registry settings that Diamond Tweak applies when it is run. Seems as though I read about a similar problem with the GSM versions a month or two ago on XDA.

Update: XDA a has a thread on this, but the recommendations did not help. I will continue searching. I did learn that it is not the number of presses that will determine whether the call will be answered. It is the time delay before it answers. Press once or 10 times. Does not matter. When you press several times, you only "think" that it is making the phone answer. Try it. Just press once. After a 2 or 3 second delay it will answer, if the first press was early enough. If not, it will go to voicemail.

Also, don't bother switching to the Windows default dialer. That does not help. So far, the only thing that works is making sure the Data Connection is OFF. That works every time.

Re: Odd problem when answering calls

Ok I flashed to a new rom but the same problem and I DID NOT have the Diamond Tweaks running.
BUT I was running Emoze, when I uninstalled it the phone worked perfectly!
does anyone know of another program that pushes e-mail from my desktop to the phone so I can try it?
thanks!

Was this a situation, where, Emoze was simply using the data connection and you were seeing the symptoms and when Emoze was de-installed data was no longer active (and therefore no problem)?

I wonder if ANY application, installed sufficient, quantity would cause the problem. As people start to install more "stuff", there is a threshold here it breaks.

@Cappy: Do you have a backup of the device prior to your hard reset? I wonder if the problem is still there after a restore. If all of the applications were de-installed, would the problem go away? I wonder...

Re: Odd problem when answering calls

I experienced this problem intermittently, but only within the past week or so - have had my diamond for about 3 weeks. I don't think I have diamond tweaks installed [unless it's included in Juicy's 2.41.

Before I solved the problem with a hard reset, I suspected that it might be storage memory, which was about 20 MB at the time. So I cleaned that up first and increased the memory to about 35 MB. Increasing available memory did not solve the problem. It may be a registry setting or something else. A whole lot of things are going on in Windows and it may well be a combination of things. Just checked an incoming call with data connection on. It is still working fine.

Cappy,

Please report the following values on your recently hard-reset device, type of string (dword, binary, etc., also please note if item does not exist) under HKLM/Comm/ConnMgr/Planner/Settings

VPNCacheTime

Thanks!

Re: Odd problem when answering calls

I've had my diamond about three weeks now and I have not encountered this problem yet. Maybe I'm just lucky and using the sprint stock rom. Ive noticed most of you are running juicy's rom and are encountering this problem. Maybe it's not the phone but the rom?

I had the problem with the stock rom. Others have had it with flashed roms. That is not it.

Snovvman. I will get that information as soon as I can.

I think I have an "eureka", I haven't been able to get it to NOT answer properly now... Stay tuned.
