Re: Issues with Diamond's physical keys
I think the issue is that the home/phone/left buttons and the right/back/end buttons each have only one actual button beneath them. (See the internal photos at this webpage.) The device uses a capacitive sensor to detect which area is being pressed. If you wear gloves, use your fingernail, or have really dry fingers, the capacitive sensor won't work.
To get a feel for how your capacitive sensor works, or to see if it's defective, use the "Nav Debug Tool" in the following package: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...d_Testing_Tool |

Re: Issues with Diamond's physical keys
Yeah, I was at a basketball game last night trying to take pictures, and whenever I tried to hit the right key to change to a different camera mode, the damn GPS Photo would load. Very frusturating. I talked with Sprint about getting a replacement, and they said that I have to go to the store to get this resolved, and they would try to "fix" it. Problem is, I don't want a temporary phone while they fix it, I want a new phone if it's a hardware issue.
Update 10/12/08: I exchanged my Touch Diamond in store for another one, and the problem with physical keys is resolved. Last edited by sn0b0ard; 10-13-2008 at 02:42 AM. |
