Re: The thickness of this unit...

According to sprint's site, the diamond is .6", the touch is .5", and the mogul is .7". I think the pro is also supposed to be .7".

Does anyone else feel that the battery door tries to come off every time you hit the power button? Real annoying

Re: The thickness of this unit...

11. something for the GSM diamond
13.9 for the CDMA diamond
~14 for the CDMA touch

18.1 for the titan
18 for the TPro, GSM *AND* CDMA.

+- .5mm for each. The cdma diamond is plenty small. Even the original razr was in the 14-15mm range. Its NOT a brick.

Re: The thickness of this unit...

The resolution on the diamond is head and shoulders above the vouge, and pretty much what everyone else stated i pretty much agree with. while the diamond might be listed as smaller than the touch;when you lay both side by side the diamond is thicker than the touch, and the narrowness of the diamond makes it feel bulkier. i would love the graphical features of the diamond with the design of the touch. the touch is rounder and wider which makes it look thinner. after i'm done playing with the diamond i'm giving it to my girl and going back to the vouge. One other thing i miss is the customized cube, but i'm sure the customizing will take off soon for this pda.

The smoothness of case and square corners on the diamond make it difficult for me to operate it with one hand while laying in bed. I have to hold it tight to keep it from sliding out of my hand and the bottom corner digs into the palm near the thumb. I suppose it will depend upon primary use as to each individual's experience. For me, I read a lot of e-mail and like to scroll using my thumb and the scroll bar. The Touch (vogue) is so much more comfortable for this. I haven't decided whether to keep the diamond or not. The wi-fi was the factor in purchasing, but I can't say as I haven't been able to do with out it on the vogue, especially after upgrading to rev A. Surfing with wifi on the diamond doesn't seem any faster.

the casing and the shape of the touch does make it easier for me to hold also. i've been having problems scrolling with the side of my thumb on the diamond, but things like that i expect to be adjusted overtime as the vouge also required tweaking. i dont use wifi or surf the web to much, but slingbox is much improved on the diamond, there is no tearing and my speeds are maintained throughout viewing.

Re: The thickness of this unit...

Lets hope the Touch HD goes CDMA too. *drool* I have to agree the Diamond feels a little thicker, but pound for pound, and inch for inch the diamond just walks all over the vogue. Google maps in a well surveyed area is simply amazing to see.

Re: The thickness of this unit...

Here's a side by side size comparison from Phone Arena:

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/compare_results.php?phones[0]=2847&phones[1]=2846&phones[2]=2021&phones[3]=2383&area=1
  • 4.0 x 2.0 x 0.6 (101 x 51 x 14 mm) - Diamond
  • 4.0 x 2.0 x 0.7 (102 x 51 x 18 mm) - Touch Pro
  • 4.3 x 2.3 x 0.7 (110 x 59 x 18.5 mm) - Mogul
  • 4.0 x 2.3 x 0.5 (101 x 59.6 x 13.9 mm) - Touch
It's interesting that the Diamond and Touch are only .1 mm difference in thickness, but it is noted as .1 inches difference. Must be due to rounding numbers off.

FYI, 0.1 millimeter = 0.00393 inch (according to www.onlineconversion.com)

Re: The thickness of this unit...

I think the US GSM Touch Diamond is the same thickness as the Sprint version. Also I had a Touch Pro (GSM UK Version) and the thickness didnt bother me but the phone felt really heavy compared to Diamond. I wonder how heavy the Sprint version will be with the different casing.
