Re: How to clean up memory on the Diamond?

This might be a revelation or this may be stating the obvious, but yesterday I realized that text messages are being kept in main memory. I cleaned up my text history and regained 10M!!!! Any way besides reg edits to move text message logs to internal storage? It also looks like I have a 6meg file, probably garbage in Windows/messaging. Is this my email repository? Should I just delete the whole file and re download my emails? Cryptic filenames are a pain, who knows what this crap is?

What reg edit did you do to move the text messages to internal storage?

How do you tell what programs are using Storage vs Program memory?

Re: How to clean up memory on the Diamond?

I didn't actually do a reg edit to move the text messages to internal storage, I just deleted mine and freed memory. I'm sure there is one. I think I read a thread with a regedit to move all email messages to internal storage, not just attachments. Since text messsages are in the windows/messaging folder, I suspect all messages, email and text and even picturemail are in storage memory. looks like this thread has the necessary regedit, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298646
I haven't actually done any reg edits yet, but now that I see this and just found this other post http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=most+complete I'm really tempted to try some!

Re: How to clean up memory on the Diamond?

So what if we've been installing everything into "Device" and we now want to move it to internal storage to save some of this precious memory? I have no idea how to navigate and move those things over.......anyone? I just installed to device because that's what I thought I was supposed to do. :-/

Re: How to clean up memory on the Diamond?

I installed opera from windows to storage card but it won't let me delete the file in windows.

Sprint TV and a few others won't get installed either. There are a few text files to look for in the Windows directory if you want to see what doesn't get installed. Look for: Config.txt, Config_AP.txt, Config_operator.txt and Config_PT.txt. They list what is installed during the customization along with the path of the file if you want to manually install it.

I can't say wether or not it affects my phone. Looks like I won't get activated until Tuesday! GPS works, so does WIFI. Even after installing all the same stuff I had earlier, I now have 35MB of free space available. I installed anything that didn't run on the today screen on the storage area, including Opera.

If you installed programs to your device, I think you have may have to uninstall and reinstall to Internal Storage. Hopefully you still have the cabs, then it wouldn't be that big a deal. It would be quicker to do this vs trying to figure out what file to move. I'm not even sure if that is a possibility. I would always install everything to Internal Storage unless the program specifically tells you that it has to be on the phone's memory.

I know sometimes when I'm saving a CAB it will only let me put it in certain areas, Im assuming that will tell me which things NEED to be in internal memory?

This crap is so confusing. It's making me want to throw my Diamond and go back to Palm.

SKTools will help you move installed programs to the storage card.

I think you mean when you are installing a cab? I have all my cabs SAVED to my Internal Storage so I can use them again later if needed. I always install to internal storage unless the forum thread or website I am downloading says that it has to be loaded on the phone. It will always default to store on phone....doesn't mean that is where you should put it.

Palm is getting outdated...they really haven't done much to change it up lately. Fewer and fewer Palm devices. Even some Palm phones are running WM now. Mostly WM, Blackberry, and now Andriod?
