Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!

tethering works. Thanks.

One question:

The only option for ICS is "PC Connection - USB". I wonder this uses "Phone as Modem" or "Sprint PCS".

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!

It Uses Sprint. Its not called Sprint PCS on the Diamond, Just Sprint. You should have the Bluetooth PAN option as well.

I have a questions: Can you use "internet Sharing" to tether with diamond out of the box (without any registry hacking) ? without being charged of course

I am tethering right now but I did not do anything but I did install "Diamond Tweak 0.5 cab" . Does this cab file include tethering hack?

Yes I am aware. They prevent the phone from going to sleep during tethering.

If you tether out of the box you will be charged. As for your other question I am unsure.

In regards to those entries, I've highlighted the one i know for a fact needs to go...
Not sure about the \Phone as Modem registry entries, as i usually delete that connection thru advanced config

If you got the diamond, might wanna update your profile ;-)

Freezes, eh? Never heard that one. Have you tried hard reset?

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!

my diamond tethering works great but there is an issue.

if I let it idle long (in sleep mode long), it disconnects. if I try to reconnect it again, it freeze. close it and tried to open it again, nothing happens. but I can see "internet sharing" on top. I have to do a soft reboot.

anyone got this issue?

I have to initiate a data connection with PIE or Opera before I click connect and plug via USB into my laptop. Anyone know what registry hack is needed so that I don't have to initiate a data connection first?

for bare minimum:
you need to at least delete the extension key,
then you can either set the force connection key to sprint, or just delete it...

-or-

you can just install the cab from post #1

Tethering is using your phone as an Internet connection on your PC or usually a laptop. With Telus in Canada it is very expensive to do.

I'm not sure how it works with Sprint but they have found a way to not be charged. I assume they have some other plan with Sprint setup.

Thanks bro. Deleting the "extension" key worked. I can just click "connect" and attach via USB and the phone initiates the data connection without any issues. Works on both my desktop and laptop. I'm tethered as I post this reponse.

Thanks,
Richard

If this is all that needs to be done, can anyone confirm what the other reg edits are for???? DO they have anything to do with being charged or not?

If half the reg edits don't have anything to do with tethering, what do they have to do with? Thanks for the info ( and the cab).

Extension must be deleted, ForceCellConnection must say Sprint was changed in Diamond

I played around with the connection; now everytime I connect, it asked for login ID and password.

anyone know how to get rid of this login process?

what is your connection name? Juicy Rom named it "Data" but I renamed the connection to "Sprint"

Re: Tethering Fix Right Here!

Sorry for the Newb question, but how do I tether with the diamond? I'm upgrading from a PPC6700, and I remember when I set up my PPC connection (years ago) I simply had to run the program sprint gave us on the phone, and the CD that came with the phone had a PPC6700SP dialer program. Its worked great for years.

Now with the diamond, I tried (after installing this cab) turning on "internet sharing" and it says "check USB cable" on the phone, and my PC doesn't recognize the phone as a modem? I tried running the PPC6700 dialer and I get "remote error". I tried adding a dialup connection in control panel and again it doesn't show my diamond as a modem.

Sorry for my ignorance, but can anybody tell me how to set this up?

Start the ICS App, Connect Phone To PC, Then Hit Connect In ICS App; Should Work.
