Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!

First off I spent an hour on the phone with tech support for them to tell me to try a IOTA in settings like on the mogul/touch but this did not work, so they told me they would have to call me back. This frustrated me so I decided to see if I could figure out what it was. Not saying this will work for all of you, but it did for me and now Im browsing with my new HTC Diamond!! Thanks to Rainfreak we have the most common issue with data services fixed!! If that doesn't work try the Update Profile option.
~mike

Most common fix for no internet!!! Thanks Rainfreak

1. Dial ##3282#
2. Click Edit and enter your MSL. (Call sprint for your MSL)
3. Tap & Highlight Active Profile.
4. Click Menu then Edit.
5. Change value to 1 then Ok, Ok again.
6. Click Yes to update the items then Ok to reset.

and/or

Try Start/Settings/System tab and click Update Profile.

I have the Simply Everything plan. Though now it is Simply Everything But Internet.

But again, thanks for posting. This may help others who are similarly frustrated.

Same problem after a power cycle...."no profiled update avail"... :( Guess I have to call sprint :(

rainfreak 09-17-2008 05:15 PM

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fix!!

I already called Sprint.. was told the best that they can do is send me another one. But wait, it gets better... I was told not to count on it before Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I had that problem after i first turned it on....i tried updating the profile but it wouldnt even open. So, i went to the connection settings and the data connection was turned off....simple answer but maybe check it out. I had just started using mine so it wasnt like i accidentally turned it off.

##778# (you will need your MSL to edit)

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fix!!

Or ##3282# gets you directly into the Data settings, or at least that is what I did...

Tech support told me to look at the settings menu for IOTA and thats what is in their manual, she was shocked when I told her that didn't exist lol. :D And Rainfreak added your solution to the first post.

This worked for me as well by setting the profile from 0 to 1.

The hard part was starting 3 chat windows before someone would give me my MSL#.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this fix. Maybe this should be cleaned up and stickied.

Hey guys, got the phone, same problem, no Internet, no tech support help (we have to send you a new handset). Knew I should come here, alas the problem.

I got into the EPST menu and I was set at 0, but I changed it, restarted and still no go.

Any ideas? What a disappointment.

Thanks

mines work after a hard reset, i think when the phone first turned on it did not finish loading everything.. i had called sprint and we tried every thing so she had me do a hard reset and the internet worked afterwards

Cracked!

What I did was what you guys said; changed the 0 to a 1, soft reset, THEN update profile, then GO.

Man, what a jip Sprint can be.

Thanks guys!

WOW! I called tech support to ask what my MSL number was...and he asked why...I told him what was up and he started to laugh because I gave him the solution to a problem he has had about 20 calls about. Thanks guys, our hard work paid off.

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!

Well I am glad this worked for everyone else. I spent a total of 4 hours with CS yesterday trying to fix mine. I have tried what is posted here, but that is not working either. I can get data through wifi, but when I try through edvo I get - Error Code: 67
Registration failure. your PCS vision username and/or password maybe incorrect. please try again

They keep steering me to "Start...Settings...Personal......Phone...Serv ices ..." and telling me the problem is that i have no Internet service, can someone that has data working properly tell me if they have such a service?

Thanks

Error 67 = username and password did not authenticate (like the error tells ya)
you need to update these settings in your phone, i suggest the following:

1) Remove the battery for a minute
2) Try Start/Settings/System tab and click Update Profile.
3) Next Check ##DATA# (make sure its' on profile 1 and shows a username/password,etc)
4) If your still getting error 67 call tech support ask for vision pw reset

Also note that repeated attempts will lockout the username from network access (for 20 minutes), even with the correct password

Do you know your MSL? If so, check and see if you can edit the Home Agents...
Also did you recently (like in the last few hours) activate this phone?

i was having the same issue, but all i did was master reset the phone and then it worked fine, actually i had to master reset it twice (lol). But just press ##786#, then enter your master lock code (call sprint), then at the bottom hit menu and select reset. It will wipe out ur phone so just make sure u have everything backed up, most likely will work after that.

If you reset your device using this method (sometimes called RTN) you will prolly need to reprogram two values back into the device, the MDN and MSID - both of which can easily be programed in ##PST or ##MSL (where MSL is yur six digit MSL)

If you dont know your MSID and/or MSL you will need to call Sprint.
