Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Ok...here is what I just did: I did another hard reset, I then went in and put in my MDN and MSID...still getting error code 67 (1012 when I try to update profile). I then called Sprint and had them reset my vision id/pw, as they did that...I powered down and took the battery out for 25 minutes before I tried again...
Same errors.... UGHhh |

Did tech support check and make sure provisioning has completed w/ no errors? Did you just do a regular hard reset, or did you do the ##786#? Did Tech Support 'reprov' data services? It sounds like you know your MSL, do you know your vision username and vision password? |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
can you assist more if I get the password... I know my vision username..
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Ok I just got of the phone with Sprint again.. this time for only 50 minutes.
I got to someone named Juana that seem to do more than everyone else. She had me actually put my username xxxxxx@sprintpcs.com in the user name field... and also had me update the AAA Shared Secret (Hex) .... rebooted and now I am getting a different error... error code 71. She told me that the updates she did could take up to a hour and she will call me back. |

Error code 71... weird. Lets double check those Home Agents... are they 0.0.0.0? |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Well....Back on the phone again... Juana is the 1st one to ever call me back, although others have promised. My HA Shared Secret was null, changed it to secret. Thanks. Yeah.. I said error code 71, but that was just because data connection was turned off, I Think! Once I try to turn that on in Settings, Communication Settings... I still get the error code 67.
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
double check AAA secret and the username. make sure there isnt a typo like spintpcs or something tiny. Then you may be locked out. Try waiting 25 minutes as any attempt will reset the lockout... then if your username and pw are correct (and match on sprints side) you should be able to get online. On a side note, are u able to modify the primary and/or secondary home agents?
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Thanks so much Puff! She did not tell me about the HA Shared Secret, but I told her what I did.... When that didn't work, she gave me a whole new pcs vision name. After she did that and it did a couple updates, I am fixed.. All data applications are working... After 5 1/2 hours with Sprint Customer Service to fix this, Now I can go figure out things and put my data, applications on there and enjoy my first Windows Mobile device! Thanks again!

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Excellent!!! Kudos to Rainfreak and others for the info. THANK YOU.
I've been on the road this week, phone delivered yesterday, got home tonight. Have been reading forum, so knew there was a thread about Internet not working ... So, I get home, unbox the Diamond. It tries to activate itself - I hit Cancel (I want to get MSL). I try online activation (~ESN swap), get something like "serial # not found". I open chat with CSR, get MSL, activate phone with no problem. Then no Internet. I try to initiate manual IOTA - no longer an option, I discover. Then remember thread here. I try Rainfreak's solution in Mike's first post. Works perfectly! Thanks again. Can I assume that some of you let it auto activate, and still got the Internet problem? (Want to make sure my method of activation not the cause). Oh ... and I made a donation to the site as another way of saying thanks! |

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I haven't had internet, but it says I have an idle connection. I then flashed my rom to Juicy's 1.1 Telus rom to get rid of the Sprint bloat since others haven't had problems. Still no internet. Now when I try to follow the first post the edit screen doesn't even pop up when I input the ## numbers. I really like the juicy rom, but I will go back to stock sprint one if needed for data.
edit: just going to run the basic sprint rom until there is a good cooked sprint rom up. Going to try post #1 again. Thanks for the work |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I gone through all the steps in previous posts. My internet connection dies and then doesnt start back up on it's own.. Does anyone have any advice ?
Reset, tried again, etc, etc. Checked in diagnostics, all that stuff.. So before I call sprint and turn a different color I thought I would check here. Edit****A hard reset seemed to fix the problem.. I lost everything but oh well. Edit** Theyre sending me a new phone. It's not working again.. I use internet heavily. Google Maps or Livesearch wont even get new data as I drive because it's internet connection dies. Then all I see is this little orange dot moving on an empty map. LoL ! |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
No idea here. My original issue was that I could not get any data connection. Mine never started and then died...

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Just finished a chat with Sprint CS, and she stated that there "there is an outage with the HTC Diamond. Sprint is aware of this and should have it fixed in 12 hours." (Sounds kind of fishy)... When I asked for my MSL anyway I got "Unfortunately, a system I need to assist you is unavailable and I am unable to complete this process at this time. Is it possible for you to chat with us again in 2-3 hours? I really apologize for the inconvenience." (Hummmm, still sounds fishy).
I did have a connection last night, but today, nothing... |

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Ok theres seems to be something weird going on here.
Heres what happened.. I transferred numbers to my Diamond from my old Touch Vogue. The internet worked intermittently on the Diamond out of the box. It would die and not start back up until a manual restart of data connection. I couldnt even get to ppcgeeks.com from my diamond. I tried everything. I think sprint may have had some bad settings on their end, and have since corrected them. So with a new start/hard reset to factory defaults my phone works great and is using the right thinds "IDK". Internet service is top notch, I let all the customizations run, went into epst in edit mode and didnt update anything but still restarted the phone. Also people if your having problems check your username, sprint changed mine and didnt let me know. **Edit: Broken Again. Damnit sprint ! Get it together. My Old touch's internet works great. |

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Yep same issue here. Needed to change the damn 0 to a 1. Sigh.
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Yeah, it sucks when a company as large as Sprint blows the release of such a sweet phone. But I am glad that I was able to stumble across a working fix and share it with everyone here. To me, that's what this site is all about.

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
worked for me! thanks =D>

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Thanks guys, you're awesome. Got my Touch Diamond delivered Wednesday (9/17) and I called and activated it and I wrote down the numbers & instructions that they gave me. After I got it, I set up the Wi-Fi and didn't notice that the net didn't work until I left the house that night. I called Wed night, Thurs, Fri and Sat and they all asked the same thing:
"Any onscreen error messages?" "No." "What's not working?" "Anything having to do with the net, weather won't update, browser, TV and Music won't work." "Oh, well okay, here it is, I notice that Vision (the internet) is actually down in your area right now." "How big of an area?" "Parts all over California." "Any idea what's wrong or when it'll be fixed?" "No and there's no ETA." About 5 different people and they all said the same thing. Nothing about doing the ## thing. On Sat (9/20) the lady put a note in my account to credit me for all the days I don't have the net, so that's good I guess. I posted on Sprint's Buzz About Wireless forums and eventually got led here, so I tried it and it asked me for the unlock code. Tried several different things and no dice. It let me view but not edit (and viewing it I saw that it was 0 instead of 1), Sprint's tech support doesn't open for like another 2 hours but then I remembered writing down the ## stuff when I activated the phone, sure enough, that worked. Switched to 1, did a reset and now I'm getting speeds of 2730.67Mbps in my house with 2-3bars of service! Thanks again! ps - Sorry about the long post, I'm just shocked at how inept people can be. I have Verizon FiOS and it's the same thing, checking on forums it's easier to find answers and then you have to hope that the CSR doesn't get mad that you know the answer before them! |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I did this changing of 0 to 1 also, and while the internet is now working i never get evdo speeds and connection, instead i get that 1x symbol which i never get in my area on any of my pda's. My slingbox is almost inoperable with this 1x. I will backup changes and do hard reset if that don't work i'm going back to my touch.

Thanks Guys. This worked for the two phones that I have.

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
This is the solution to the 'no dialup, fails provisioning' problem:
once you get the MSL, set active profile to 1 and soft reset, run the profile update, it will 'fail', but if you view ##3282# it will have the user/pass/secret filled out. Reset again and it should connect. I think this was a flaw in the most recently factory flashed sprint rom. Tech support does not have ANY procedures for this phone, they are all flying blind so don't expect any help from them. |

LOL.. they are ALWAYS flying blind at Sprint support... |

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Im currently using juicys rom for sprint and ive been haiving this problem for days. I changed my active profile to 1 because it was at 0 like pretty much everyone else but now i go to my settings and data connection is off and whenever i click on it to turn it on it just tries for about 30 seconds then says cannot connect dialed 777. I also tried to update my profile in the settings but now it shows a key as the icon and it does nothing when i click on it... not really sure what to do lol
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I was on the phone with Customer Service and they walked me through the active profile. The phone must/might come disable to access the Sprint Network because I also had this problem. If your phone 'automatically' activates your profile when you turn it on, that might automatically enable this feature, but from my experience when I had to active it via CS I had to call back and enable the active profile to 1 (as it was originally set to 0). The CS rep had me do a profile update, but it said "no profile update." I think simply turning that feature on is enough to start the service.
I LOVE MY DIAMOND!!!! |

If there are other issues let me know and I can grab a device and try to replicate them and find a solution. Obviously I can't fix provisioning issues, just device issues. |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
Update your PRL in your settings folder and you'll be good to go. I had the same issue
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
they told me to restore mine and that didnt work so they are sending me a new one out, when I try to enter these special menus its asking me for a password.. and I never set one :(
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
The password is your MSL, a six digit key that Sprint can give you. Tell them that it is not connecting and they should want you to check EPST settings, which is where you want to be anyway.
IMPORTANT!! If you ever get your MSL from Sprint, write it down! I write mine on the box the phone came in, as well as make a text file to dump on my phone's internal/additional storage to have for the future, if I ever need it. |
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I had the same issue. Wasted hours on phone with Sprint CS - even got to advance tech. Finally called back the next day and a CS rep had me pull the battery. Then she reset my internet account (took off my SERO plan and then added it again - according to an email I received). Afterward she had be do the update profile (which I was unable to do successfully previously). After she reset my internet I was able to do the profile update and the Internet now works just fine.

Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I have made a revision to the first post....i activated my device online and never turned it on before i activated it....when i activated i turned it on and didnt have any issues with provisioning or data.
|
Re: Internet not working? Possible Fixes!!
I think you may be on to something. When I called to get my Diamond activated. The rep asked me if I turned on the phone yet. After I replied "yes", I heard a soft "oh" with a pause after. We got the phone activated, but I had no internet. Their must have been something in the activation instruction the rep saw to make her say that. If this is the way future PPC need to be activated, then HTC & Sprint need to put a insert or print on the protective film of the device "Do not turn on phone untill instructed by CS".
