Re: Can the black camera shroud be removed from the Burgundy back?

Do you really think its worth it though? To essentially render the camera useless and void the warranty just to bring it in to work/

Its not worth it bro, just don't bring the phone inside. If you really need it, leave it on VIBE; and make sure no one who might rat you out knows you have it. Good luck

Re: Can the black camera shroud be removed from the Burgundy back?

im sure if he could get a different back that didn't have a camera hole he could easily swap the backs and not void his warranty. besides even if he did, all he would have to do is "lose" it and presto new phone for 50 bucks (if he pays for the insurance)

Re: Can the black camera shroud be removed from the Burgundy back?

i would get another back off ebay and since you work in the auto field get some platic weld and cut up one of the backs then remove the part with the lense and plastic weld them togeather with no cam hole at all... that would kill to birds with one stone. the ugly miss colored back and fix the phone for work..needa take a area 51 pic bust the back off and snap snap the pic for auto trend

Hm, I may have a solution for you.

I've been toying with the idea to make molds of a few popular PPC back covers. And modifying them so there is no hole for the camera.

all it will take then is a nice cast and paint job (maybe can find some rubberized paint as well)

and then chuck them up on ebay for a few bucks for people in your position.

that way there is no need to remove the camera, and you can keep your normal faceplate in your car and switch up before work.

Re: Can the black camera shroud be removed from the Burgundy back?

there's at least another thread like this here i recall from a couple months ago ... since you are just trying to hide the fact you have a camera phone and not actually remove the camera what if you keep it in a case somehow? maybe you can find a case that fits tight and covers up the entire backside.

No. I'm doing both. I will actually remove the lens unit.

I want to remove the camera hole to not arouse suspicion in the first place. However, if a guard does inspect it, I want to make sure that I am in full compliance with company policy.

I work in a high security work area. Bringing in a camera-phone is grouds for getting fired. I'm not going to risk my job for a phone. My job is well worth it.

My intent here is to remove the lens unit to be in full compliance with the rules and to also remove the camera hole to avoid being hassled in the first place.

I for one would want this. I don't know how large this market is, though. There are only a few sparse threads through the internet about removing cameras from phones.
