Can the black camera shroud be removed from the Burgundy back?

My workplace does not permit camera phones. My idea, based on the picture below, is to remove the black piece - the one that says "HTC 3.2megapixel", cover it up with some carbon-fiber-patterned automotive vinyl - and replace it so that it doesn't look like there is a camera. (In addition, I would put modeling clay over the lens or remove the lens altogether.)

Anyone know if this is possible or if there is a better way to make the Diamond appear cameraless?

Anyways, this may or may not be possible.. You can just replace the back cover with one that has the camera hole covered up, not too sure where you can find that..

I figure I can easily cover up the camera hole. Worse case, spray paint the back of the cover. My concern was with the "3.2 megapixel" label that screams "I have a camera-phone"! Hence my desire to completely repaint/cover that portion to make it look like an OEM non-cameraphone.

He means hiding the camera I believe, as long as you can cover up that burgundy back, it's possible.

Ah, I see... It appears to be made of a thin shiny piece of plastic overtop of the back. You might be able to peel it off. Or you might scratch the heck out of the back, and make a big mess of it...

It also appears that you should be able to scrape off the paint that says "3.2 Mega Pixels" (it's not embossed or anything), and then a shot of black paint (or electical tape) on the inside should fix it. I can try the electrical tape tonight, and see how obvious it is still (and post a picture).

I would get a new back on ebay, and then just plug the hole.

You could go for the "diamond theme" for $20:

Either of these seem easier to mask than the Sprint back.
