Re: How To: Configure GPS

Use google maps or livesearch and call it a day.

The GPS on my Diamond has a mind of its own, thanks to Alltel. I have it working and it's been a major uphill battle...

My name look weird....

But no, you cannot ask us how to get you illegal maps here, and I'm sure if you try again, you'll be banned.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

I wasn't able to obtain my SPC code from the methods described. However, I was able to contact sprint and they were able to give it to me. The customer service rep did not know what an SPC code was but he told me he had a 6 digit activation code. That code worked when i entered it into the service programming application.

This worked very well for me, you can try:
1. In Tomtom, configure GPS with "other NMEA GPS receiver", leave baud rate as 57600, select COM 4 (I assumed your external GPS is already set with "COM4" for port, "none" for hardware, "4800",for Baud rate, "check" for "managed GPS automatically". Exit.
2. Set your phone "location setting" with "911 ONLY".
3. Soft reset.
4. Now set your phone "location setting" back to "LOCATION ON"
5. Soft reset.
6. Your Tomtom should be able to lock in satellites now. Mine can lock in 6-10 sats inside my house in 15 seconds. Same for Google maps.

Good luck.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Ill start with I know this is in the diamond forum and i am well aware this is a problem on my pro but i am looking for help everywhere.......

Well, Im at my wits end. I have done everything in this thread from front to back and read all of the posts and tried many different things. Nothing works. I was able to make my titan work using the hack so I do know what im doing with this stuff. I ensred all my setting were correct and I also checked the qpst after going through the update to ensure the values were written, which they were. Nothing is working and I find it hard to belive that this phone's gps receiver is in some way inferior to the titan's, just makes me and I have never gotten a fix with my pro and i am currently using conflippers alltel pro rom. Let me know if you guys have any ideas! Thanks in advance. Oh and by the way this is my second brand new pro as I recently exchanged it for a new one last week since i was in my 30 days..

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Hey guys, I registered just so I could comment on this thread.

I'm a novice when it comes to PPC usage, but I consider myself a savvy computer user so all of these steps were easy to follow. I do have an issue though .

Whenever I enter my SPC (Read from phone[Step #12]) in QPST it says that it is invalid.

I've done everything step-by-step aside from using your provided .exe file for hex/decimal conversion (It doesn't work when I try to launch it). I found a few websites that have a hexidecimal -/- decimal converter, that don't require a download, and they all gave me an identical number. I can't see that being the issue.

I haven't had any problems until now. Any ideas?

I'm going to retry everything in the morning, I can't think straight atm. Any help would be appreciated seeing as I bought this phone with GPS as one of the main selling points for me.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

What I found was that the invalid code was the result of a faulty conversion to small letters instead of caps. I saw my ESN when I ran QPST; put in the numbers & caps in the converter, and got a different SPC; put it in and it was valid.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

My problem: had Google Maps running free outside; now after ROM flash, the prog. wants a network connection. How can I get back to where I was, GMaps running outside by seraching for the satelites?
