I did the above and It was slower than what the Sprint version comes with Stock... I reverted if you couldnt tell from me asking for the Stock sprint settings...

My lock is anywhere from around 5-30 secs from sprint unless indoors then its 30sec to a min probably... Wouldnt recommend for the Sprint Diamonds.

I applied all the settings in the registry except used the Sprint IP and port on my Sprint Diamond. It locks quickly and works great.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

I can't get this to work on my Sprint Diamond.
I followed the steps and successfully wrote the ip info to the phone (had to use a different method to get the SPC)
But the google maps gps still doesnt work :(

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

hey, i've been kinda annoying lately, but i am quite frustrated with trying to get this thing to work. i am on juicy 2.5 rom. i even hard reset it recently. i applied the settings exactly as posted here. i go into google maps, and i see the map fine, but when i press use gps, i keep getting seaking satelites(0)... message. i have rebooted the diamond about 100 times over the last few days trying to get this to work, but no luck. i seem to be able to download quick gps stuff fine. with blackbery curve it was a breeze, so i don't understand why diamond is so crippled in this respect.

any help would be greatly appriciated, thanks

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Are you on sprint or telus. (fill out your user info)
Did your GPS work at any point in the past?
Did you even test it before trying these settings?
Can you screenshot (and please for the love of my patience crop the picture) what you see in the qpst gpsOne screen?
Blackberries and HTC phone are not even remotely similar, don't even start.
Are you outside in clear view of the sky?

Re: How To: Configure GPS

as stated above, I have the same problem. Completed everything in the first post just fine (Sprint) and can't get a lock on any satellites.
Went to the Sprint repair center, did a hard reset to factory defaults, loaded up the trial of Sprint Navigation and it still didn't work. They told me to call order support and get a new one.

tobeychris 10-13-2008 04:34 PM

Re: How To: Configure GPS

hard reset will have no effect in regards to there settings. as I've said before, this changes information on the chip. what you should do is search this forum for the stock sprint settings and try to change back to those. then try again. most sprint users say that the gps works fine out of the box.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

i downloaded google maps before, on stock telus rom, and tried my location and of course it said to screw off, beta not supporting this feature. then i flashed juicy 2.41 and again ai tried my location but it didn't work. after i tried applying those settings, as stated in the forum, wrote, and i tried Activate GPS this time. seaking satelites (0)... is what it says forever, until i get the error message.

My quelcom screen lokos exactly like the posted screen shot, except the allowed button is checkmarked in black, not in grey like there. i tried activating gps in a few locations, outside, and no success.

i tried getting some help also over at xda-developers, maybe this will help you out in helping me out :D

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Little question, is that for using with a gps or it's using an internal gps in the diamond that is "lock" from Telus?

Thanks

Re: How To: Configure GPS

k big hint. dont disable location setting. it disables gps too. if you guys are having the same problem as me, check your settings, phone, location setting must be on.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

The Opening Topic should updated which carriers (or ROMS) require these steps because the Sprint Stock ROM needs absolutely nothing to work right out the box.

It Always locks immediately.

QuickGPS is installed and runs as a Service constanting doing AGPS updates so that when you need the GPS it will lock almost instantly.

On a Stock Sprint ROM, I can Hard Reset, Install Google Maps, Click Use GPS and it's up.

I had the same problem until this morning. I started quickgps, downloaded new satelite data and bingo, got 11 satelite in 5 sec in googlemaps (and I was indoor in my bathroom). Try that to see.

Also, I've disabled assisted gps

tobeychris 10-20-2008 11:41 AM

Re: How To: Configure GPS

No, you haven't, because you just said you used quickGPS, that IS the assisted part.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

After every ROM upgarde/hard reset, I set my External GPS to port GPD1 and Live Search to use 'GPS Intermediate Driver' and I get a lock within 30 seconds every time. No QuickGPS, nothing. Google Maps is set to use WIndows' settings also, and I get the same results. These are the settings that are pre-installed on my 800W, which is where I got the idea from and I recommend everyone use these settings. If everyone could try it and let me know how they work I'll add it to the first post here.

tobeychris 10-22-2008 11:18 AM

Re: How To: Configure GPS

I get locks in under 5 seconds without doing that... and external GPS should have no relevance...
If it works, ok, but the gpsOne settings are in the chip itself...

Certs 10-22-2008 11:29 AM

Re: How To: Configure GPS

External GPS settings don't matter anymore? With my Q9H we had to use reg hacks and such just to get it to use COM5.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Nope! gpsOne settings and the registry keys in the cab are all that's needed for quick locking GPS.

There is still a lag issue, but we may have that resolved soon, stay tuned!

Thats what I've been looking forward to. It's hard to use TomTom right now for navigation because I don't see where my turn/exit is until I pass it.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

I just flashed to Juicy 2.5 but GPS doesn't seem to be working. Trying to follow your instructions for gpsOne settings http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36639

but seeing how i'm so new to this I'm confused on step #2 - How do I run dmrouter.exe? is that exe included with Juicy's ROM if so where do I find it.

If I have to install it how do I go about doing that - I downloaded dmrouter but all it is was is an exe file that will not run in windows - so I'm assuming I have to run dmrouter on my actual phone, but how do I get that installed to my phone?

Finally I tried dialing ##3424 but that didn't do anything - cause I guess I have to have dmrouter running first.

Anyone please help

Cell_crazy 10-23-2008 01:25 PM

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Whoops sorry I figured it out had to dial ##3424#

But now I'm getting errors in QPST. I try and enter my SPC number - but after I enter a few seconds later it says that I have the wrong SPC number and then another window pops up saying the the COM port has changed. What am I doing incorrectly?

When I click on the globe and add port, I only see: "COM3 - Serial" and if I select it it's no phone. I'm on vista, and I don't know how to reinstall drivers. Help plz. (also, is MEID HEX my ESN?)

I'm running vista 64 bit

the drivers for vista on this guide do not work for either of my generic serial devices. I've tried installing through wizard and device manager, so I'm stuck on like step 3....

Advice?

I tried out the Tomtom7 download with the registry entries on the first post in this thread and noticed it fudged up the gps on my Sprint Diamond. I did a hard reset and now the gps is working fine again. Is there a link to download Tomtom7 without the registry changes?

I had some trouble initially with Juicy's 2.5 because of AGPS being enabled. Since disabling it, I've had no GPS problems. You can use Advanced Config to turn it off. (I just made a cab for that and my other reg tweaks).

Re: How To: Configure GPS

fyi, ur cab only has the telus ip in it. and only the telus ip in qpst. here is a list of other carriers pde server's ip.

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377#2

sprint users will most likely need this info.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

Ok, I'm tying to get this to work but have hit a snag. The images with the settings for the gpsOne tab are not loading. What do I need to put for PDE IP, Port, transport, and position calculation. Currently they are set to 0.0.0.0, 0, IP, and PDE. I'm using an Alltel Diamond.
