Your buddy is telling you this just to shut you up so you leave him alone for a few weeks.

Not to even mention the fact that the only way an employee could buy a phone in a store is for full retail price, with a 25% discount. Which is stupid because employees have multiple ways of getting the phone for new customer price, sometimes without having to mail in a rebate.

(If you can't tell, I work for Sprint. I also happen to be a Diamond advocate)

They don't send phones to stores for "which ever employee wants to buy it". In my 5 years with Sprint, I've never seen an employee pay full retail price for a phone in store, over waiting maybe 3 days to order it for the new customer price.

the stores should all be getting two phones, one for the advocate and the second for display. its not inconceivable that the store would be selling their display unit, even if it is against policy.

furthermore, if youve been with sprint for 5 years then you should have seen plenty of phones purchased at full retail by employees, because thats the way the system worked for years. it was not until 2006, with the launch of the advantage club site, that there was a website for purchases. unless you were at the main campus store then you had to purchase at full price and get a mail in rebate.
thanks kellybrk for clarifying the inventory situation...

Chappy, this is one of my best friends who calls me... sh*t, i even give him a ride to work like once or twice a week... he really isn't just trying to "shut me up"... i believe every word he says cuz we're so close its almost blood.

I'm sure u've seen a fair share of how employees cut corners in the past 5 years... it happens everywhere!

i'm not tryin to butt heads with you bud, i just don't like being called a liar or having my sources be noted as untrue... we will see when the time comes...

all-in-all man, i just want the damn phone and i'll be as optimistic as i wanna be, ya know?

let ME clarify the inventory situation then, and i'm not an employee, but like i said, i have RELIABLE SOURCES!

took my boy to work(sprint) this morning and had a chat about this...

turns out it depends upon the manufacturer and sprint if the advocate phone is gunna come activated straight out of the box... the 800W advocate phone did NOT come activated on a line and WAS recieved into inventory first! I know this because my boy is the 800W advocate.
The advocate Samsung instinct came activated out of the box. So we were both right, but i'd figure ud know being a 5 year vet of sprint, right?

And btw, the 2 diamonds that they get, one is for the advocate and one is for display, aparently the touch and mogul did not come activated out of the box so we're lead to believe the diamond will not be too... the display model can be sold if thats what the store manager wants to do(not necessarily the right thing, but it CAN be done)... and they decided to help me out. NEVER thought i'd say this about sprint, but THAT is customer service! lol

Ok man. Believe what you want. I'm just trying to make sure that everyone else who reads this thread doesn't storm in to Sprint demanding to get the "extra" phone, or wanting to be sold an advocate phone because it's in inventory and it's not active.

Never since I've seen an advocate phone come into any store I've ever been in, has it been received into inventory, including the 800w. Since I do most of the receiving, I would probably know this. However, most advocate phones do NOT come activated, and I never said they all did. The Instinct did and the Diamond is. I doubt the Rant, Highnote, Lotus or iDEN Curve will.

PS, there wasn't a Touch or Mogul advocate. There were subject matter experts for Windows Mobile, Palm, and Blackberry, (and they were area wide, at least in my area), when the Mogul and Touch were released. I happened to be the WinMo S.M.E. and had an apache at the time, and got swapped for a Mogul.
