OK I'm sitting on the phone with sprint right now the CS Rep tells me that the Diamond will be released on Sept. 14. They dont have a real concrete date for the Touch Pro as we speak though.

The part in the tags about needing to be on one of those plans is so you get your rebates. If you don't want your rebates, just buy the phone and keep your old plans. It's that simple.

CS "claims" it's required, but then again they've been claiming the Diamond was going to be available today too. I imagine as long as you have a plan that has data and text included you'd be safe, right?

I wasn't planning to utilize the rebate, as I'm not eligible anyhow, but I'd like to keep my nice retention plan that I've had for some time, and it has data and vision included at $0.00 so I imagine I can still get the phone at full price, and just do an ESN swap then, correct?

I wouldn't count on it..... There were many people who tried to do the same thing with the instinct: Buy the phone full price at best buy then do an ESN switch. I heard they were forced to either switch phones or Sprint would cut off their service. Believe me, I am in the market for a more multimedia oriented phone and I tried EVERYTHING to get that phone on SERO. Even the manager of the local sprint store was going to do it for me until one of his minions piped up ans said "Doesn't he need a SEP plan for the instinct"? Needless to say I was pissed off. I hope they don't try to pull this S hit with the Diamond, or I might slap the store manager. I would even be willing to pay full price if they let me keep my SERO plan, for the diamond or instinct. Its too bad sprint has to play games, because they are not subsidizing the phone for me, so it shouldn't matter what cell phone I have on that certain plan as long as I keep paying the bills. Boy, these cell phone companies are just out for your money......

I was afraid about this as well. With the touch I am only paying 15 dollars a month for my data on a family plan and there is no reason I would need or want to switch my entire plan. I wouldn't be shocked if they did this considering they did it with the instinct.

I believe it is only the Instinct that will require the SEP due to it being an iPhone competitor and to make up for the millions spent advertising the Instinct with there stupid commercials. So far it appears Sprint has spent $0 on advertising the Diamond.

im just wondering does this mean the Touch Pro will be pushed back even further to. i never expected the T.Diamond to release on the 2nd because every time i asked Sprint they said mid-September. I never asked about the T.Pro.

Whats the scoop on that?

i have to shell out about 150 dollars a month for a family plan and you guys are crying over having to pay about 80...

Why would you buy a Diamond without a data plan??? That boggles my mind. I can't imagine someone owning THE top of the line phone that can do everything and not having a talk/message/data plan... I've had that even with lesser phones.

Haha! You should have heard me ditch and moan at Sprint when I asked them to never dare touch my 30 month sero.
