The person that actually held both CDMA phones seemed to think the difference was even smaller than 4mm... hopefully we'll get some official CDMA Touch Pro specs leaked soon.
Well I'm glad everyone is a paper-critic...and nothing more. Lets look at the real world here. 4mm thicker is a significant difference when its used day in and day out. Trust me, you will definitely be able to tell and it will make a difference. What makes you think the CDMA Touch Pro will will stay the same size as the GSM version? You claim that someone has held a CDMA Touch Pro? Where? I have never seen any evidence of that. In all probability, the CDMA Diamond & Touch Pro will share the same respective size differences as their GSM counterparts.

This hype/delay combo is getting ridiculous. It gives this forum too much time to over-analyze and conspire and flat out make things up. Then the deprived masses instantly jump on the nonsense thats been spewed like flies on...well, you know.

1. You should read more. Read some other forums besides this one. (Though I think it *was* ppcgeeks where I first saw the first person who actually held the CDMA Touch Pro talk about it.).

Edit: Here, I found it: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...518#post387518 and I've seen similar info posted on another site too.

2. The Touch Pro is smaller than my Treo 700wx... so no it won't be a problem in my pocket. The Treo is no problem. 4mm is almost nothing. You'd get used to it...and it actually may be less than 4mm as per someone who has actually handled both phones at the same time.

3. I agree about the nonsense being spewed...that's why I DID something about it to show people the different between the Diamond GSM, Diamond CDMA, and the Touch Pro GSM.

Since I made that graphic I HAVE read where someone did handle the Touch Pro and confirmed that it is only a tiny bit thicker and in HIS opinion it made no difference. He suggested that it might be 2mm thicker, but I'll leave it at between 2 to 4mm thicker until we actually get some better leaked specs.

Too many people were b!tching about the Touch Pro CDMA being too big when in fact it isn't going to be much bigger than the Diamond CDMA.

Well It kind off remindds me the size of the current Touch and Mogul and I loved the Mogul but it was just to slow for me. I might just wait for the Touch Pro but again, A touchscreen feels much better when a device has no qwerty keyboard since its slighty trembles and flopps with the slideout keyboard. Mogul and Tmobile Wing gave me this problms. This is how it felt with the Mogul( When I was tapping the right sidde of the touch screen, it would bobble since there is some space sepperating the slideout keyboard andd screen. I hated this specially when using opera mobile 9.5

Some ex-Sprint employee still "kicks it with the homies" he used to work with and they told him that they held a Touch Pro...once. Riiiiight. Sounds like concrete evidence to me. That is one airtight reference. There's absolutely no way it could've been a dummy phone.

FYI, my cousin's next door neighbor's girlfriend's best friend once saw Tom Cruise at a movie theater. Wild, huh?

Re: Launch postponed!!

I called a Sprint store today to talk to an employee that used to work for me a few years back. I asked if had any word on the postponment, and he said he saw it last week and he was unaware of it being delayed. He said the same thing of the colors and thought it was pretty awesome. We will see, like he said "Nothing is in stone, but the date is still 9/2 but like every other phone Best Buy mobile will have it like 3 days before us!"

Look: It is the best info that we have at the moment. How about you go out and get something more concrete and then we'll discuss that.

For now we take what we have and work with it.

Sure the source isn't concrete... but I have no reason to think that they are lying automatically... I'm not going to stake my life on their info, but discuss it in a forum where you are supposed to discuss things? sure.

If your OCD makes it so that everything you read has to be perfect then you are in for some huge frustrations on the 'net where things are always less than perfect.

When the Touch Pro comes out and is just a tiny bit bigger than the CDMA Diamond I will be vindicated. When the Touch Pro comes out and it is 50% larger than the CDMA Diamond then you will be vindicated... but guess what: I don't care if I'm wrong. I'll be glad to say I'm sorry I was mistaken by some erroneous information that I read. No skin off my back.

It all depends on the final dimensions of the Pro.

After looking at the three different phones in the attachment I thought the Pro looked thicker than just 4mm (.157") so I figure I would check.

Take this for what it is worth...using my scale, sorry i'm in engineering, ruler I measured the thickness of each phone from the picture and figured out the scale factor.

From that, i came up with the Pro in the picture having a thickness of 0.82" instead of what is listed, 0.7". If this is even close to correct, the difference will be more like 5.6ish mm which in my world (engineering) is huge.

Like I said, take this for what it is worth and I am sure if someone else takes the measurements, we will all have slightly different results.

Great size comaprison. You can overlay the images to get a good idea of their size differences. You can see what 4mm will look like compared to your current phone...

This will come in handy once the Pro dimensions are published.
