I was the one that posted the info about my initial concerns with upgrading my phone on a old Sero plan. When I did tried the first time they transfer me to the EVP department which asked for all that info such as sprint rep's email address and employee code to purchase an upgrade. Similar to you I am on an older Sero account which never required customers to know that info. So here is what i did, i called telesales again the next day and spoke someone different and they took my order for the diamond. I wasn't transferred to the EVP department that required all that info. I place my order through the regular telesales. So basically just call the regular telesales number and if someone there transfer you to this EVP department hang up and call back. You know Sprint is that one company that you can always bet on inconsistency and this time it payed off for me. Good Luck !

the reason why they probably beefed it up was because it was too easy before, if you weren't supposed to get the plan in the first place then you cant complain later if they try to change it. your lucky sprint doesn't ask for thier money back lol

Why would they ? i was referred to my old Sero plan from a friend who is a sprint employee and the reason why I wouldn't have that info is because i had my Sero plan since the beginning. Therefore, I wasn't required to know that info so it was given to me. My only problem with sprint is the fact that they expect older Sero account people like myself to know that info when it wasn't required 2 years ago. I understand why they beefed it up, I remember reading threads in different forums how easy it was to get a Sero account. But Sprint made that mistake and now they are trying everything in their powers to kick people off their Sero accounts. For example, I just recently read on another thread that people on Sero account are not eligible for the 100 dollar MIR that is offered as an additional incentive to upgrade your phone.

Question?

To anyone that has gotten rebates from sprint. According to the rebate stipulations, I DO NOT qualify for the MIR. ( I have an old share plan, 2 lines, 550 ATM with free vision data on both, 300 texts on primary line). So technically i do not have a "talk/mssg/data" share plan. However, the telesales rep repeatedly said i would be getting the MIR. I even asked him to put it in the notations, he said no problem.

I paid 374.99 (MD taxes) total before the 100 MIR. Question is will i get the rebate based on the rep saying I will or will the "rebate dept" see that i do not qualify.
Anyone care to offer an educated guess?

My guess is that it will be declined, but you still have a chance by calling the rebate department IF the CSR did indeed make notations in your account.

Last time I filed a rebate for my Touch (Nov 07), I was fully qualified and followed instructions to the letter - still declined. Called rebate dept, and got the standard spiel "sorry system error, you're a good customer, so will expedite within 15 bus days". That seemed to be standard behavior for lots of qualified people - and we all got the same scripted response. Time before that, was also declined - went into to store and they fixed it for me. Looks like Sprint automatically (unethically, IMO) declines rebates, but you don't have to fight hard to get them.

Thanks for the info. I'll hold them to it either way. Or I will get a credit on my bill. He was adamant about me getting the rebate which is why i asked him to notate it. If I don't qualify, I will hit them with the dishonest sales practice speech. Sure i was buying it anyway, but you don't sit there and repeatedly offer information that is not correct. Besides, every once in a while sprint customers should profit from being given wrong information. I gave the guy like 5 "outs" to correct what he was saying. He continued to demand that I was getting the rebate. I do technically have talk/mssgs/ and data on my account, however it's not a talk/mssg/data plan. I guess we'll see what happens.

I added a 3rd line with a new 2 yr agreement to get the web pricing. I wonder if my rebate status is based on that alone?

When we renewed our contract last month, my wife upgraded to the Centro. But I wanted to make sure we'd get the full discount and keep our existing 700min fair and flexible plan (w/ unlimited Vision and grandfathered unlimited SMS from back in the day), since the closest plan in their existing list is twice as much money for 1500 min that we won't use. After talking to the rep about it, he approved the contract renewal of our existing plan with the full discount.

Anyway, I sent in the rebate for my wife's phone even though we renewed what is currently a non-existent plan, and when I checked it this morning it's been approved and should be mailing out soon.
