Diamond Release Speculation Thread

If what I read is true, looks like the Touch Pro will not be out the same time as the Diamond.

I really really really hope that that is not the official back of the pro or diamond. Why would they want to make it any other color than black. The only other color acceptable would be silver. Any other color on a phone this expensive makes it look like one of those cheap *** razor. The do know that 90% of the people buying this phone will probably be guys.

Then another thing is the purple on the home screen that you scroll. Why would they make that purple. I was afraid they were going to make it yellow but purple is much worse.

Sorry i'm negative it's just after waiting for this phone and seeing what all the other carriers or doing like leaving it black and leaving it as a rectangle we get this phone with clown colors.

Customer care isn't typically to up on phone releases until right before the launch. I'm not surprised they haven't heard anything about the touch pro. I am a little concerned they told you flat out "no" versus "I don't have that information at this time"

I hope youre right. I have been holding out for the Touch Pro for the longest while. I dont know what I will do if it doesnt come out on Sprint. But just like you say he could be wrong. Last week I spoke to a Sprint rep and they told me they knew nothing about the Diamond but now this week they have the release date for the Diamond. So hopefully your right about them not knowing the details. What I really want is just "yes" that its coming....

Well i live in minneapolis, MN and i just got off the phone with the sprint store by my house literally like 2 minutes ago, and i asked about the release date for the diamond. He told me that they don't have an exact date but it should be releasing sometime in the next month in a half. Also there store is closed this sunday August 17th for training. I asked if it was training for the diamond and he said he wasn't sure and that no one in his stored had been assigned to that phone yet. (Which would make sense because on sunday is when they might get the phone and assign someone to work with it... my fingers are crossed lol) Then i asked about the touch pro and he didn't even no what i was talking about until i said it's the same phone just with a keyboard, and he replied "OH....i haven't heard anything about that one yet. You might just wanna look it up online to get more information." So with that being said i believe that a couple of weeks after the touch diamond is released they will start getting information on the pro and start getting ready the sell that phone, and it should be released a month later. One thing to note is that he didn't say that it wasn't being released he just said he hadn't heard any information on it yet.

P.S. I also wanted to comment on that D Harvey post about Best Buy releasing the phone on 8/17/08. Not to say that he is lying but i live in minnesota which is the headquarters for Best Buy.....I work like 2 minutes away from there corporate office in bloomington, MN, and i called around to a few of the stores including there main store in eden prairie, MN and some employees have heard about the phone and some haven't. The moral to the story is they don't have an exact release date yet. So i don't see it happening that fast sorry . I'm pretty sure the corporate store would have information if it were being released next monday.

Hang in there. I am pretty positive we are getting the Pro since I was told I could use it hands on in a couple of weeks. I trust my sources.

What is your souce saying for a release date on the diamond? Does the Touchflow have a bunch of sprint crap included in it so I have to scroll over it all the time, like navigation or some other trash? Was it as thick as the touch and/or did it seem thin? Lastly honestly how bad was the burgendy back?

My best guess for the date is Sept 2nd, really not positive though. I think there may have been some Sprint stuff in the touchflo, again can't remember exactly... i believe it was on the far sides though not right in the middle of the scrolling like what i would consider the most used features. It was thicker than the touch but not as wide. I would have prefered the diamond cut back, we all have our preferences though.

Check out the link on page 9, linking to sprintusers. It's that color with a flat back.

I think I saw that a store trainer was receiving it on the 16th earlier so I'm sure they could give you a more accurate description in a few days.
