Re: Sprint Vs. Verizon Diomond

assurion has invested heavily in major cdma versions of 6900. I work at a dealer and an insurance rep was following through on a claim we did for a customer on their vzw version and said itd be a long while before they ran out (it was our customers concern b/c they loved theirs n knew nothing of the soon to be released versions.)

verizon wont get it for quite a minute...

found this out tho...

Sprint usually recieves shipment of the new phones 3-5 days before their release... hence the aug 28th date...

If you know some one at sprint who can hook you up, all they have to do is scan the phone before the release date, and if a price comes up, technically they can sell it to you... TECHNICALLY.... but if the price reads 0.00 then they can't sell it.

September 2nd IS the OFFICIAL date of release..

This is from one buddy who manages a sprint corporate store and another who works at a different corporate store.

I've been told by people in Executive Services that the current release date is Sept 2nd which is subject to change, but that is the current plan.

So I think we can be reasonably be sure that Sept 2nd *is* the day they are shooting for, but of course if a hurricane disrupts supply lines or something they won't have any control over that.

The price for new phones will go up to at least $0.25/kb, lol.

I have a good source and believe the 2nd will happen.

Yes, that is correct. We typically get shipments of phones a couple days early. Hence why we had the new Katana Exclipse and MotoRazr VE20 a few days before it's official release ( today ). However no, you can not sell the phone early. If you did, you'd be fired once your manager or DM found out a phone had left the inventory before it's official release. It doesn't matter if the price is in iRMS. You would be terminated.

And thus far, you're correct. The "official" release date for the HTC Diamond is September 2nd.

My guess would be that if there is any truth whatsoever to this rumor, it will be that Verizon launches the Touch Dual and then the legitimate Diamond further down the road. The whole rumor seems like unfounded sensationalism.
Maybe Verizon is planning on releasing the Touch Dual, and then after Sprint's time to carry the Diamond(Victor) exclusively runs out they will be releasing the Diamond.

Here is an thread talking about Bell carrying a CDMA version on the Touch Dual....

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...DMA+Touch+Dual

....who knows, if maybe this is what Verizon is doing too.

On a side note, does anyone know of any talk about Alltel carrying either the Diamond or the Touch Pro, or is Alltel still likely to be bought out by Verizon by the end of the year, and therefore wouldn't be getting their own versions of these phones???
