Re: Sprint Vs. Verizon Diomond

Here's an "unboxing" of the HTC Diamond "Victor" from Japan. I love the back, very sharp! Sprint, you starting to make me believe again!

There's at least two pieces involved with that... First is whether the hardware supports being a USB host. Relatively few PPC's handle that. I've seen one post that suggests it might, but nothing was really confirmed (source: http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=490).

The second piece is drivers. Any USB device needs a driver. In Windows 98 and up, we're fortunate that drivers for most common devices (USB drives, etc) are included. But finding a USB driver for the Windows Mobile operating system may be another story entirely, since very few devices support such a thing, so there's not much need for the driver. But that may be solvable by the good folk at xda-developers.

In short, I'd be very happy if the Diamond supported it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. There's nothing really that suggests this will happen.

Clint

It really wont matter if you have verizon and like sprint phone better because verizon is going open network this fall so buy the sprint phone and activate it on verizon. Easy, problem solved.

Re: Sprint Vs. Verizon Diomond

The verizon version of the diamond is just as good as the touch! Bwahhahaha. They F*ck U up real good verizon subscribers. But anyway, 4gig of internal memory from sprint is not a big deal for me. I have 4 gig now and I don't even have it full. I don't put video and mp3's in there coz I have a gadget for those. What does internal memory means to me? It's faster transfer. Fasho. U ever experience some of ur videos in ur card not in sync with the audio? Well, there's ur culprit. sure thing this will be a device that could rival the Phone that starts with an "I".

And I mean c'mon... I already have an iPod Nano (8GB), an iPod (60GB), a Zune (20GB) and an in-dash DVD player (with slide out screen) in my truck. Do I need really need another device to drop music on that I may or may not listen to all that much. I don't think I personally do.

Though I can see how it could be a deterrent to those of you who do not have all of the toys that I have; or the desire to carry more than one device with you. But I for one am jumping all over it when it comes out.

That, and the Diamond should be a lot nicer for web browsing with the higher resolution screen, and the iPod-like zoom feature.

I just can't get over the fact that it will be called the Victor. On one hand, it can sound noble and powerful... but on the other hand, it kinda sounds like the guy that works down the street in the bakery...
