Re: contacts?

No need to manually change anything. All my contacts transferred fine. Only thing is its best to make a new live account just for this unless u want a mess in ur contacts list.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0; HTC; T7575))

I imported my Gmail contact Android contact to my hotmail account via online on lappy. It seem to only import all the names and email addy not many numbers. I might try something at local sprint store. Factory reset sign into live/hotmail account then have my Evo contacts push over via cellabrite machine and see if that correct things. Hopefully that doesn't double up my contacts in live/hotmail.

Re: contacts?

A Sprint store should do it for you for free if you can easily get to one.

Re: contacts?

Here are instructions to sync your TP2 to hotmail.
Setup your phone to sync your Hotmail inbox, calendar and contacts using ActiveSync

Once you do that your WP7 will pull your information from your hotmail account. If you have duplicates you can join/merge them together in hotmail.

Also, even though there is not a "myphone" like before... www.windowsphone.live.com is pretty sweet. In there you can remotely lock your phone, remotely ring your phone (even if on silent), remotely wipe your phone, and remotely track where your phone is via GPS on any desktop. If you lose your phone you can lock it and ring it remotely and put a message on there giving instructions on who to call if found as well. And it is all FREE...

How are you getting your calendar on there? I tried sharing it with no luck, I tried importing it a a calendar file and only get 2 out of 200 entries imported.

I thought that works only if you saved your contacts as a messenger/outlook/live contact. So for those who used contact card, they won't sync right?

On a side note, hope you don't have office 2010 x64, Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 won't recognize Outlook x64.

Re: contacts?

So wait, if you have a tp2 synced with a win7 pc running office 2007, your not able to sync the Arrive/Win7 phones with active sync as normal?

I dont care bout emails, but contacts and calender events would be nice rather than having to setup and sync everthing thru hotmail acct! Is there no possible way to sync the traditional way??

Re: contacts?

When it came to my contacts, since my TP2 was "rooted" with MightyROM the sprint store wouldn't transfer my contacts.

I used PIMBackup to export my contacts
Renamed the .pib to .zip
Extracted the .csc
Opened it in Excel using semi-colon as the delimeter
Copied the results to a .txt file
Changed the TABs to commas
import to Outlook, did a few cleanup duties in outlook
export to csv again
import to HOTMAIL contacts
then sync'd my phone to hotmail

That took about 15 mins simply due to the outlook cleanup duties.
